Teachers whose work is limited 2 D classroom may find themselves replaced by AI. Teachers whose work requires physical interaction will still be needed. This includes physical arts, performing arts, the trades, hard sciences, & medicine.
Good point. AI robots aren't advanced enough to replace those types of instructors.
I think a combination might be best. AI can be such a big complement for humans
outsourcing to countries where minimum wage is much lower has already made private tutors and language schools pretty obsolete in Asia. I only survive because I can teach students how to study better, have fun and build better habits. But finding new students is a nightmare compared to pre Covid
It is because people have not much to spend on hiring tutors. The outsurge of learning material on internet has made them shift towards those sources leaving the teachers deprived of students.
I still find most people don’t know how to teach themselves a language efficiently, not that it’s hard, they just rely too much on media instead of doing the actual work. But yeah it’s much harder to convince people that I can help. Actually word of mouth is the only thing that works and most people in Japan don’t have big social networks. So I’m going to focus on making music and holding events more, which is also hard to earn money from but at least promotion for that feels more fun
That's the point. Without a proper guide and mentorship we have no idea how to navigate in the world of learning. Consequently, we often end up investing more efforts in comparison to the results achieved
So it has emotional wellbeing attached with it. That's a plus
AI only answers what we think we need to know. On the other hand, a teacher/mentor explains to us what they observe what we lack.
I suppose as AI advances it will be able to detect what we lack, but this is true for now.
