ARK Innovation Fund

Hi Friends,

ARK Invest made headlines today when CIO Cathie Wood made bullish remarks about Tesla and Bitcoin. ARK Invest is a fund management company, and their flagship fund is the ARK Innovation ETF (ticker ARKK), which was up 135% over the last year.

Their innovation fund is an actively managed ETF that looks for "disruptive innovation", basically new trend setters and new industry pioneers. Here are their top 5 holdings:

10% in Tesla (TSLA)
7% in Roku (ROKU)
5% in Teladoc Health (TDOC)
5% in Square (SQ)
4% in CRISPR Therapeutics (CRSP)

Their top 10 holdings equate to about 45% of their portfolio so it is a stock pickers ETF which will be much more volatile than an index ETF.

An interesting concept, and you can see, no bitcoin in that list, though Tesla and Square both have some Bitcoin on their balance sheet.

Active managers have a rough go of it over the last 10 years, but looking for innovators is a good way for an actively managed ETF or mutual fund to outperform in bull markets.

Thanks for coming by today,
Brian

ARKK did well last year. However, recently seems to be having issues. I like the fact that they rebalance almost daily.

However, I do recall a pull away from Grayscale when the general internet interest in Bitcoin started to drop.

Yeah, they have been hurting this last week especially!

ARKK is my top holding from my stocks I posted about it a month ago. I like the idea of disruptive tech.

Nice, hope you were in it last year too! I like the niche of that fund.

Hi, dear @brian.rrr.

I understand that ARK Innovation ETF pays an annual dividend.
I wonder, how profitable is it?

Yours, Piotr.
