Today I woke up at 4.28 am.
That's basically in the middle of the night!
I'm no stranger to waking up during the night. Previously I woke up around that time every day so I could get a headstart at work.
These days I wake up at that time if I'm in pain, which happens more often than it should, unfortunately.
But today was different!
I woke up because of a dream.
Basically I know if I'm dreaming, which is quite nice. It allows me to stay in cool, action/sci-fi movie-like dreams for a long time, but this dream was not one I wanted to stay in!
The dream
It's summer, my daughter and I are at a camping site.
Clear skies and warm, sunny weather. We're camping right next to a hill. On the hill there's a bunch of bushes where there's a tiny path in, big enough to climb the hill and visit other campers that are camping up along the hill.
We climbed the hill, crawled through the bushes and visited some nice people further up.
I sit with them and my daughter is playing with their kids, and walk to the kiosk to get an ice cream.
As they got to the kiosk it started dripping from above. Typical! Just when we're about to enjoy the weather.
Within seconds the dripping turn into hail and the hails are the size of 2 fists, at the very minimum.
I get up and rush to the kiosk, nearly falling when I accelerate and run all I can.
I get to the kiosk and clever as my daughter is, she's seeking shelter. Not quite there yet, but on her way.
Also running.
Just before she gets to safety, I see a big hail hitting the roof of the kiosk and bouncing towards my daughter.
It hits her on the back. She turn around and I can see in her face that it was painful.
She's looking around, amazed at how big the hails are. Ruining cars, smashing windows.
Pure mayhem!
While she was looking around, me still rushing towards her, I see the largest hail of them all, once again taking a deflection and then on its way right at my daughters head.
Before it hit her, I jump the last bit, grab my daughter to get her out of the way...
I don't know if I managed to get both her and I away from that last one. I woke up just as I grabbed her.
While nothing too bad happened, it wasn't really the best of dreams and I'm happy I decided to wake up instead of staying in that dream.
It could have ended terribly wrong!

What a scary dream. I dreamed once that my wife wanted to stab me with a knife. That was a really bad one. Since then, I don't trust her anymore. okay, that was a joke but the dream was still bad af. I woke up sweating, heavily breathing and my heart rate was under the roof.
Oh shiiit! Never trust them women! 😂
At least it didn't happen in real life!

Wow! That was quite a dream! I’ve had some that I can no longer remember but they did wake me up at the time. I’d wake up expecting to be in s scene from the dream and find, of course, I’m in my familiar surroundings of home. It totally disorientates you though and that is quite unnerving!
Some dreams are very memorable. This was one of them, both on the good and the bad.
It can totally mess with your head if you dream so vivid that you think you're there. I've done that many times in the past too. So confusing to wake up and be like "where am I?? Oh.. I'm home" 😂

I once dreamt I was the only human and everyone else had become penguins. I was filling my car with fuel and there were penguins everywhere. It was nuts!
