Really interesting to think of financial systems in physics terms! I think the comparison of transaction fees to friction is spot on.

Would you say that chains with slower block times inherently have a lower terminal velocity? Not necessarily because of the friction caused by fees, but something more akin to the speed of light (an absolute upper bound on velocity).
