Yeah these companies will always try to collect data without giving the person collected from a penny and then sell for huge profits. Even if they sell it for pennies on the dollar, that is pennies they don't share with anyone but themselves. Interesting that they are doing it, unfortunate that they are being typical greedy companies when doing it though.

It is going to require a complete change in thinking, something that is unlikely going to come from companies that are driven by quarterly numbers because they answer to Wall Street.
The only option is to continue building alternatives and suck enough volume away from the existing structures.
Over time, after a few front line companies feel the heat, others might change course. It happens with the newspapers and record companies.
