Nothing is Really Free

In Karnataka, the government is giving free electricity upto 200 units. And actually it's a good thing for many but the problem is nothing is really Free. We will think that th government is paying for that money but the reality is they have hiked the prices for everything else. If you needed a new connection, previously you have to pay around 20K but now the same is increased to 100K I.e. 5 times.

So the government is getting the money like anything and to show the public they are making it free. And previously cost of 1 unit was around Rs 3.5 and now they have quietly increased the price to Rs 7. So the people who are consuming less unit for them not a problem but for people who are not consuming less units, for them the bill is increased more than twice.

So the thing is nothing is coming for free. The government is announcing that they are giving for free, buy at the same time they are charging more in some other places. Like the bus was made free for ladies and at the same time it is doubled for the men. So in simple terms the family is paying the same amount, the ladies are not paying and the gents are paying doubled.

And that's why we can say that nothing is free. And if we are getting something for free that means we have to pay somewhere else. Remember we used to give our data to get something for free. Similarly these all nee apps give everything for free because they want our data. I am not saying that we should not use the app for free, but we should be careful on what we are sharing in these apps.
