I have been in front of the bank for over 2 hours now, just to retrieve an expired ATM card.
I am still outside, I don't even know how long I would have to wait when I eventually enter

Do they allow you to make appointments? Seems alot easier if people didn't crowd around everywhere and things became orderly.

In my country , there are no appointments in banks . We have to wait in queue , get the token over there at bank and wait for our turn . It takes an average of 2-3 hours for me to do the simplest transaction .

We can schedule one here in the US and generally the wait times don't take that long. I guess this is one of the benefits of being in the US. If people had to wait hours, they would go to a different bank for service. Are there many different banks competing for business in India?

That's terrible. I have one of my cards that expired months ago and I can't even go to bank just for the fear of staying for hours doing nothing.
