Mobile MiniGames: Play & Earn | Tokenomics Explained!

in LeoFinance2 years ago

Running a sustainable Play2Earn Economy in Games remains a challenge and often comes with complicated tokenomics that are hard to fully grasp for new players. Here is another article on how Mobile MiniGames aims to solve this issue with 1 in-game currency and 2 tokens.

In-Game Currency: Crypton

This is the currency that can be earned in the game and it can be cashed out for those that want. Unlike DEC in Splinterlands it is not just being created out of thin air as a reward. Instead, the only way for Crypton to enter the economy is trough deals that are bought by player as nearly each one includes some of it. This also means that there is something to back up the value of the tokens in the entire economy.

Ways To Earn Crypton in The Game

  • Spellbook: By collecting duplicate ability sets you will earn passive Crypton in the game, the more you have the more you will earn. One of the fastest ways to make progress is to level up the Spellbook which requires Crypton, all that Crypton gets put in a pool, and part of it is redistributed as passive rewards each day. This system the way it works right now likely won't scale very well, it's good to make progress but only good to earn when you have your spellbook maxed out early on. It costs 200k Crypton to max it out and right now, a maxed-out Spellbook gives around 1000 Crypton Passively each day with the payouts declining.

  • Sell Skins: The Auction house in the game has Crypton fully integrated into the game. This means that if you want to buy or sell skins, it can only be done with Crypton. There are many reasons to buy skins each unique Pet Skin will give a +0.1% luck increase on the 100 Daily Pets you can attract. This combined highly increases your chances to get more rare and valuable skins. Aside from this, it is also the fastest way to make account progress which will improve your overall loot from the game. Hero Skins help to make your team a lot stronger as the more of them you hold, the bigher the attack / shield / life boost will be.

  • Community / Affiliates: If you run a community in the game, you can earn some Crypton from players that are spending in your community. If you are in the right community you will get a lot of that back from the person who runs it. See my Community Sign-Up Deal if you want to get the most out of this. A soon-to-come update will also introduce community challenges where community leaders can set challenges allowing the members to earn.

  • Crypto Land: This update is in development now but it will be the main part of the Play2Earn Mechanics. There will be Crypto Land which will cost 1 Million Crypton and it will have 100 Sub-Plots. Each player can occupy 1 Sub Plot and passively earn from that by staking their NFT Heroes. All the Crypton that comes from Exporting / Buying Land / 5% Trading Fees will be put in a reward Pool for these passive earnings. The Player that occupies the plot will earn 9% of what is Generated, the owner of the Hero that is staked will get 90% of the passive earnings (these can be the same person), and the owner of the crypto Land will passively earn 1%. There will be enough incentives for players to trade on the market so a lot of fees should be generated and exclusive skins also will play a big part in this. I will make a detailed post on how it will work somewhere in the near future. For those that want to make sure that they will get their own sub-plot when the expansion launches, check How To Get A Free Land Plot & Earn

  • Competitive PvP: This is another expansion that is in the works and 5% of the Crypton Reward Pool will go towards competitive Player versus Player battles. Both higher-level Heroes and Skill will allow you to compete higher on the leaderboard and earn more.

Value of Crypton & Cashing Out

It is Possible to export crypton out of the game and turn it into PRPS by donating it to charity in the best game building. 1000 Crypton always will equal 1$ worth of PRPS at the sell-wall Price (see Below where PRPS is explained).

Main Game 'Governance' Token: PRPS

While technically it is not a governance token as there are no voting rights (which are a gimmick in the first place). The price of PRPS however is heavily tied to the success of the game. If the game ends up doing well, the price of PRPS will inevitably go up.

The way the PRPS is put into circulation is trough a sell-wall that works with batches which each time both increase in price and in the number of PRPS that are being released. Each level increases the price with +0.6%. Way back in 2018 during the development, it started at Level 1 at a sell-wall price of 2$, now after the game has been released for a year the sell-wall is at level 270 with a 10$ Price. Initially, only 14200$ was needed to move to the next level bringing 7100 extra PRPS into circulation. By now for Level 270, 208k Dollars are needed adding 20800 PRPS in circulation in order to move the price up.

PRPS USE Cases & Value Proposition

  • In-Game Purchase Discount: PRPS can be used for in-game purchases in the G4G Shop outside of the app store and they allow this at a big discount valuing 1 PRPS at 30% more compared to the sell-wall price. This means that right now 1 PRPS gives 13$ worth of purchasing power.
ALL PRPS USED TO BUY DEALS GETS BURNED!! This is a massive burn mechanic reducing the supply which inevitably will make people have to buy from the sell-wall which will push the price up. Most players start of with purchases in the App Store but move to using PRPS over time. A Real-Time view of how much PRPS is used and burned can be seen on prps.moe

All in-game purchases done with PRPS also have a major discount now as 1 PRPS counts toward 13$ of in-game purchase value. I continue to cost-average buy and also continue to get deals in the game while they are cheap stacking a lot of exclusive skins.

  • Lock PRPS For instant 4% in DUBI: On dubiex.com you are able to lock PRPS (HODL PRPS) for instant 4% Return paid in DUBI (See DUBI Explained Below) for a year. Locked PRPS Can also be used to do in-game purchases and those that use unlocked PRPS also get a 4% cashback Paid in DUBI. This is ultimately what gives PRPS its value as revenue made from the game is being used to guarantee the interest on it. If the price gets too low, you can pretty much instantly get a lot back by locking it for a year.

To Sell PRPS, You Need To Undercut!
In order to sell PRPS you will have to undercut the sell-wall making PRPS a coin that works with a Supply & Demand dynamic. Right now, there is more supply than demand both because some of the early investors are taking profit and because the game still is way too Free2Play Friendly and many of the players from poor countries need the cash flow and are dumping at whatever they can get from it. The demand right now is limited because the major Play2earn features which also will create more spending are yet to be released. The advertisement also yet has to get into full gear but things surely are getting closer.

This all makes it possible to buy PRPS at a dumping price of ~4.75$ Right Now. Not all too much liquidity is available to do this all at once though so I am cost-averaging myself whenever I get extra funds available.

PRPS Manual Value Increase
The Devs need a lot of PRPS themselves to give out to players who want to cash out which they want to get from levels as cheaply as possible since they are also bound to them. This makes them manually scoop up a lot of levels in anticipation of pushing the price of the Sell-wall up. They already announced that this will increase from 10$ to 13$ once 10 Million Downloads have been reached.

Bitcoin vs PRPS

PRPS has been doing exactly what it was designed to do which is to go up slowly but surely over time while also providing passive returns and it acted as a extremely good hedge during the bear market when comparing it to the (first) Bitcoin Top even if it is trading well below where it is supposed to be.

Coin12/04/202114/07/2022%
BTC65000$19700$-70%
PRPS3.30$4.75$+44%

No Speculative Hype Bubble Ponetial

Unlike nearly all other coins, PRPS doesn't have the potential to do a 10x or 100x overnight to dump right back purely based on speculation. It is aimed to be slow reliable and somewhat stable as something you don't have to lose sleep over.

DUBI Reward Token

I would say that DUBI ultimately is the reward token of the ecosystem. The only way for DUBI to get into circulation is for it to be minted by PRPS that gets locked. The team always provides a buy-wall equally to the sell wall. Right now this is 10$ and it will increase to 13$ once there are 10 Million Downloads. Within a day sell order on dubiex.com for 10$ will be bought up by the team and that DUBI will be destroyed.

Current PRPS Locking Rewards = +8.4%
At the 4.75$ price 1 PRPS is sold for right now, 0.04 DUBI can be minted which can instantly be sold for 0.4$ or 8.4% of the original price. All what is paid out comes from revnue made from the game and the team on a yearly basis pretty much only needs less than 4% of the total value of PRPS on a yearly basis to sustain this system.

DUBI for in-game PurchasesDUBI also counts toward a value +30% for in-game purchases but there is little reason to use it right now since PRPS which also give a DUBI cashback pretty much always will be a lot cheaper unless the system is changed.

Future DUBI Use Cases
With the Crypto Land Expansion, players who want to earn a bigger part of the crypton reward pool will be able to lock DUBI onto their Hero & Pet NFTs which should drive demand away from the actual buy-wall giving the team much more room to use the profit to generate more profit.

DUBI = Stable Coing That Goes Up In Value
In theory, you can see DUBI as a stable coin that is expected to go up in value even though it comes at a big if as you need to fully trust the devs that they are able to both maintain the buy-wall and they they wil honor this agreement.

These are the Token Contracts

PRPS (Polygon): 0x972999c58BbcE63a2e398d4ED3Bde414b8349eB3
DUBI (Polygon): 0x950e1561B7A7dEB1A32A6419FD435410daf851B0

Conclusion

The Tokenomics might look complicated but once you understand the system they actually make a lot of sense and they are not in danger to collapse anytime soon as everything relies on the buy-wall of DUBI to be sustained which only requires a small amount of the total value of the entire ecosystem. DUBI (Stable & can always be sold at fixed price that is set to go up) -> This can be minted from Locking PRPS which goes based on supply & Demand -> Crypton can be earned in the game which can be converted to PRPS. Each part have their own utility in the actual game with also a big burning mechanic. In the end though, everything will fall or stand with the success of the game. I can highly recommend everyone to try the game themselves to judge if they think it could become big. Hey mate, thanks for chucking this onto Hive.

Still working my way through this whole tokenomics of the game, but the best value is to buy PRPS for holding and buying in-game boosts. For some reason I still can't log onto Dubiex with my Metamask even though I can link it to the G4G site... I had to use Quickswap which wasn't so bad as I just used Matic to get PRPS.

Using PRPS is such a great discount over the App store purchase. I got the yearly crypton boost for $34 AUD vs the $89 AUD in game :O. No way was I gonna spend $89 AUD in game. Sadly, that means I might want to spend more $ on the game. Funny how the mind works.

You might want to contact support asking about what might be the issue with Dubiex, for me right now everything works properly. That yearly Crypton boost gets 50k crypton over a year + some more and is one of the better deals out there as you basically get back what you paid for. I also got that one the moment they made it available. Playing the sale points game also still is quite crazy.

The way I look at it, PRPS has crazy value and a very nice risk/reward ratio just because I can see the game doing really well the coming years and I also fully trust the development team. The fact is that games like this are suited for the widest target audience and in the gaming market they are the ones by far making the most money. It is really well designed and up there with the best I would say, since they are new it just will take some time to get a bigger player base but it feels inevitable to happen.

The way it always goes is that early adopters in games that become big (especially in Play2Earn) end up doing very well which is the reason why I have been going at it hard since the start not holding back on spending some on the really good deals that won't last as I do estimate to get a lot more back in the end. Things are also going to get really interesting with the Crypto Land expansion so a lot to look forward to.

Then again, nothing is guaranteed and it all remains a calculated gamble in the end. I have enjoyed the game a lot though first learning how everything works trying to optimize and now growing somewhat of a community. Also, the fact that it wastes so little time is a major bonus making it into a daily 10-15 minute fun distraction once you learned how all the dynamics work.

The game does really do a great job using all the 'predatory' microtransaction tricks to lure players in and you really have to be aware of it though. Many likely won't be able to handle it and go wild on purchases.

Good Luck, and if you have more questions always feel free to ask!

Ai.....those damn microtransactions......so many of them. Can be good and bad. Although I must say they do give out a lot of freebies like random boxes. Sadly nothing of significant value, but it's all about getting that dopamine hit :D

Really wish the insanity boost still gave Sales Points, that's a massive game changer imo

The sale points inside the insanity deals were simply too optimistic and were never going to be sustainable. Still plenty of opportunities right now I would say. The game imo is still way too friendly to free account being able to farm pet skins each day, PRPS is trading ridiculously low in price which both gives a massive discount and makes it an investment I believe many will look back on with regret not being there and acting while it was available and the early exclusive skins don't have that many of them in circulation while it's possible to just pick them up for cheap now. Of course, nothing is guaranteed and things for sure will take time. I do like the risk/reward and continue to go at it each day cost-averaging myself into a healthy position.

most nft games leave a lot to be desired for me today, even with the drop of rewards the best thing to play is splinterands for providing good gaming experience and attracting new games. It's not just to make money

100% agree, the games themselves providing some fun, and not just being another short-term Ponzi is a vital factor. Splinterlands and Mobile MiniGames for this reason are the only 2 that I really play and have a long-term vision with. The fact that they aside from the game also have good tokenomics which adds a 'money management' gameplay aspect to it is a nice bonus.

I hope you give the game a fair try, it takes some time to wrap your head around it all but once you are there it all makes a lot of sense and unlike Splinterlands doesn't require a crazy amount of time.

This boost below looks like the event boost for the Cheese event. Just not sure if 10 Happy Bonus Boost is similar to the Max deal in-game.

In-game, there is a 10x (one click before Max) that is way cheaper then 7.69 PRPS, that's why I am trying to ask around before spending in G4G.
image.png

I don't think that is the one as it has a weekly limit of 1 so it will be handed out over multiple weeks and it also doesn't include the TTTT Boost and exlusive building skin. I'll dig around and see if it is possible to get the in-game boost with a voucher. I'll probably pick it up if it is possible. These days 62 Sale points for a voucher is pretty nice.

i think it's like 45 Sales points + 10 from the Cheese Event + 5 for Bootcamp which I didn't buy before
