Splinterlands | Year 6 Upgrade to Max Level Wild Cards!

in LeoFinancelast year

After 5 years of grinding Splinterlands, I'm now ready to upgrade my collection to Max Level cards as prices are extremely low at the moment.

Splinterlands Situation

The situation right now in Splinterlands is pretty clear as we are in a death spiral where mainly prices of cards aren't holding up which makes buying packs a sure way to get absolutely crushed over time. So earnings are low which pushes down the value of the assets which decreases the earnings further which pushes down the value of the assets more and players are leaving the ecosystem while nobody new is coming in.

The fact remains that I still enjoy the game even though I hate to be forced to play daily and there are still many things that need major improvement. The upcoming fee the play in Wild in my view is another action that will be taken that will make things worse and I see heavy collection power requirements as a way more effective solution.

So yeah thing are pretty bad at the moment and this while Crypto is in a bull market.

Moving To Max Level

The only way for Splinterlands to be viable in the long term is if they manage to fix the asset devaluation problem as nobody in their right mind will throw 5000$+ at the game each year just to see that value go down in flames over time. I have always kept discipline and never blindly threw money at the game growing organically by playing first sticking to level 5 Rare Summoners. As prices became more affordable, I made the move to Level 6 Rare Summoners. However, by now things have become so ridiculously cheap that I started to make the move to just Maxing out some Summoners and cards. The entire process of collecting and leveling always has been something that I enjoyed about the game.

Welcome To The Family!

On Twitter, I've noticed something of a trend from accounts who post about Splinterlands in that many are accumulating Max level Cards at the current prices posting with the #welcometothefamily tag.

This really is what made me have a new look at cards seeing how cheap they actually had become. So I started re-investing some Hive Earnings that I saved up mainly from Splinterlands blogging to buy more cards and get them to Max Level!

Leveled Up Cards !

The Summoners remain the main bottleneck even though the Soulbound ones are also available.

I already have 2 at max level and 4 at Level 7 and only the Dragon Summoner lagging behind.

From the Regular Summoners I bought extra Copies of Possibilus which is my most used one and I also bought some extra Thaddius Brood Death Summoners to get it to max level. I also combined some spare Camila Sungazer cards to get that to max level. I will continue to keep an eye out for more summoners to upgrade in the coming weeks.

The Monsters I leveled up mainly were mainly Water & Death Monsters also combining all the soulbound reward cards of which I had enough of. The most expensive upgrade was to get The Kraken from Level 3 to Level 4 as it's a card I actually use a lot in my Possibilus Deck.

Some of the other Water Splinter cards I leveled up are

Especially the Chaos Legion Cards are super cheap and very easy to get to max Level. These Death Splinter Cards I managed to Level Up...

I also upgraded some of the Cheapest Dragon Monsters and some of the more useful Neutral Monsters.

Conclusion!

Even though I can't say I really like what is happening to Splinterlands lately, I still am finding a lot of fun playing the game and this next move to get My collection toward MAX Level while prices are this low also makes the game a lot more fresher again. I will continue to accumulate and bring regular reports on the progress that I'm making.

Sort:

The situation right now in Splinterlands is pretty clear as we are in a death spiral where mainly prices of cards aren't holding up which makes buying packs a sure way to get absolutely crushed over time.

Cards turned out to be the worst asset class in this game which is sort of ironic since this is a card game. I still think the CP proposal that passed is better for the game where as the new draft proposal will no doubt cause more people to leave the game.

Yeah, I have no clue what they are thinking as it's pretty straightforward. introduce a tax to play = lower reward pool = lower card prices & more players leaving.

Just force players to have a decent collection power with Soulbound & Duplicate cards not counting while renting only counts partially to enter and play Wild. This removes all leeching bot farms. If they add an equal card burn mechanic to unlock soulbound cards it would over time help restore card prices giving players a bit more faith again to buy new sets.
