I like really Hive as a place where you potentially can find like-minded people. The entire model though, remains to full of major flaws. Compared to way back in the days when there were regular hard forks and things like hive-enigine were created, nothing really new has been added or changed for years now.
You really made a good example with the carrot example which makes it hard to build a genuine community as there is so much incentive to fake it. Right now there are also near zero valid reasons to actually buy Hive. Either you are inside the curation circle or you are out of it and there is little room for niche content while the entire frontpage is always full or posts about the ecosystem which nobody on the outside is really interested in.
