Nothing better than an annoying noise to break your concentration. Now enhance this with several different noises simultaneously. This is the reality in my work, and today I'm going to report it to you!
Concentration and productivity
Among my administrative tasks at work, there is one in particular that is really exhausting. This is the final procedure for registering and producing undergraduate diplomas.
Interestingly, Brazil adopted blockchain technology for public registration of undergraduate diplomas in its own network maintained by entities linked to the Brazilian state. I talked about this in a post earlier this year.
For those familiar with blockchain, it is already clear that the record is eternal, so any errors or discrepancies must be resolved before the information is recorded in the blocks.
So I believe that the need for concentration to carry out this task is justified.
Water reuse
Fate wanted the institution to have environmental responsibility, and in this way we collected rainwater for reuse in toilets and cleaning patios.
And the joy of being next to the water pump is indescribable. Sometimes I want to buy a decibel meter.
As it is next to the mechanical room, the noise from the water pump that takes rainwater collected to the upper floors is constant.
But that's not all... follow the thread!
Scientific equipment
Fate decided that a chemistry laboratory would be located on the upper floor, in which there is equipment whose name I cannot say. A colleague explained to me that its function would be similar to a sieve. Well, the equipment is, by its nature, vibrating. And vibration generates noise... a lot of noise, and a constant noise, as if the vibration was tuned to a certain musical note.
Luckily, I mostly use the equipment in the morning, while my working hours are in the afternoon and at night.
Hall
Fate, again, placed my work environment in a corridor with access to several locations, which makes it very busy. So, I learn a lot about the joys and sorrows of passersby, as the conversations are constant. Unfortunately, I usually hear "snippets" of conversations as people pass by and there isn't enough time to understand the whole story haha!
Conclusion
I don't have much flexibility in negotiating with my neighbors, so I have taken isolated actions on my part.
Firstly, I am working behind closed doors, leaving a notice on the door with opening hours, so that people feel comfortable coming in. Although some people simply don't knock or open the door (I've had to go to the door and invite the person to come in, as they remained in the hallway and I could hear them).
On the other hand, I used a layer of adhesive on the windows, which improved privacy and also reduced external noise.
None of this resolved the issue of the vibrating noise, but it is a path that I was able to take on my own.
Nada melhor do que um barulhinho irritante para tirar a concentração. Agora potencialize isso com vários ruídos diferentes simultaneamente. Essa é a realidade no meu trabalho, e hoje vou relatar a vocês!
Concentração e produtividade
Dentre as minhas tarefas administrativas no trabalho, existe uma delas em especial que é realmente desgastante. Trata-se do procedimento final de registro e produção de diplomas de graduação.
Curiosamente, o Brasil adotou a tecnologia blockchain para registro público dos diplomas de graduação em uma rede própria mantida por entidades ligadas ao estado brasileiro. Falei sobre isso em uma postagem ainda neste ano.
Para os familiarizados com blockchain, já fica claro que o registro é eterno, então eventuais erros ou divergências devem ser resolvidos antes do registro da informação nos blocos.
Então acredito que esteja justificada a necessidade de concentração para realização desta terefa.
Reuso de água
O destino quiz que a instituição tivesse responsabilidade ambiental, e desta forma coletamos a água da chuva para reuso em sanitários e limpeza de pátios.
E a alegria de estar ao lado da bomba de água é indescritível. As vezes tenho vontade de adquirir um decibelímetro.
Por ser vizinho da sala de máquinas, o ruído da bomba de água que leva aos andares superiores a água coletada pela chuva é constante.
Mas isso não é tudo... segue o fio!
Equipamentos científicos
O destino quiz que no andar superior fosse alocado um laboratório da área de química, no qual existem equipamentos cujo nome não sei dizer. Um colega me explicou que sua função seria semelhante a uma peneira. Bom, o equipamento é, por sua natureza, vibratório. E vibração, gera ruído... muito ruído, e um ruído constante, como se a vibração fosse afinada em uma determinada nota musical.
Por sorte, o maior uso do equipamento é matutino, enquanto meu horário de trabalho é vespertino e noturno.
Corredor
O destino, ele denovo, colocou meu ambiente de trabalho em um corredor de acesso a vários locais, o que o torna bem movimentado. Então, fico sabendo de muitas coisas sobre as alegrias e tristesas dos transeuntes, pois as conversas são constantes. Infelizmente, geralmente fico sabendo de "trechos" das conversas, pois as pessoas passam e não há tempo suficiente para compreender toda a história haha!
Conclusão
Não tenho muita flexibilidade em negociar com meus vizinhos, então tenho tomado atitudes isoladas de minha parte.
Primeiramente estou trabalhando de portas fechadas, deixando um aviso na porta com o horário de atendimento, para que as pessoas se sintam confortáveis em entrar. Apesar de que algumas pessoas simplesmente não batem e nem abrem a porta (já tive que ir até a porta e convidar a pessoa a entrar, pois ela permanecia no corredor e eu podia ouvi-la).
Por outro lado, utilizei uma camada de adesivo nas janelas, de forma que melhorou a privacidade e também reduziu o ruído externo.
Nada disso resolveu a questão do barulho vibratório, mas é um caminho que pude fazer por conta própria.
