Hey guys! This is @crazyphantombr speaking to you, bringing the latest news from the microworld of domestic budgets! And there’s nothing better than buying an appliance in a physical store to make you feel how good it is to live on the blockchain! haha!
Context
Brazil has a catastrophic failure in the implementation of its electricity supply network: we operate with two different voltages, according to geographic limits.
Let's understand what this means: depending on which region of the country you are in, the electrical energy provided by the companies will be with a different voltage: 110 or 220 volts.
In a country with continental dimensions (Brazil is as big as the smallest continent), a simple move to the neighboring city can become a nightmare!
Some electrical equipment is built to operate at only one voltage, making it impossible to modify it to be compatible with another voltage. Electric motors, refrigerators, heaters in general are practical and commonplace examples, found everywhere, and whose use is delimited by the electrical voltage map of the country's states.
Paraná and Santa Catarina
The neighboring states located in the southern region of Brazil have this particularity, as in Paraná the company Copel supplies energy at 110 volts, while Santa Catarina operates at 220 volts.
And a great example is the case of my hometown, which borders the states. In it, when crossing a street we could change states, leaving Santa Catarina and entering Paraná.

As I live in Paraná, I am already adapted and have 90% of my electrical equipment at 110 volts. But the problem is when we need to travel, and Santa Catarina was our tourist destination this holiday.
Essential household appliances
Among the various products that are in travel bags, we have the cell phone charger, which is dual voltage. But heating or cooling devices usually aren't. This is the case with the hair dryer! Being an essential product, in my wife's opinion, it was up to me to manage the setback.
The day before we left, our online purchasing options were immediately ruled out. It would be necessary to use medieval methods of attending a physical store.
Facing a team of salespeople eager to hit the target is a difficult situation, and you must be prepared. For the purpose of measuring my loss, I first checked the used market. Online used car market, of course.
Marketplace
The only reason for me to keep my registration on facebook is to use its marketplace. A targeted search quickly showed me that there were only two hair dryer options available. Contact with the sellers resulted in a single return, with the value negotiated at BRL 100 / USD 20.
The condition of the product and the distance to the place of sale made me give up.
Taking online stores as a basis, a quick survey showed that the reference value for the new product would be between BRL 100 / USD 20 and BRL 200 / USD 40, depending on the number of functions.
Let's go to physical stores!
Physical stores
In physical stores, unlike virtual markets, the presence of equipment in both voltages in stock is practically nil. You don't go to an American store in Paraná and find 220 volt appliances, because it's not common to have this type of energy available in homes.
In fact, you can even find some products, especially because by paying an additional amount it is possible to request a two-phase connection in Paraná. The default power connection is neutral + phase (Single Phase). By paying additional you will have neutral + phase + phase (biphasic).
Three stores were selected for budget assessment, chosen based on proximity.
Budgets
The first store, Colombo, still at the entrance reported that it did not have any 220 volt device in stock.
The second store, known for importing products of dubious origin, would probably have the best prices. The saleswoman who approached us took us to the corresponding section where, after checking the boxes, she informed us that they would not have the desired voltage.
The third store, Magazine Luiza, oddly enough, did not have an approach team, so we went in and started exploring the store. We found the hair dryer section and quickly ruled out five existing models. The sixth model in particular was very interesting.
The Philco brand equipment stood out for its fancy name Travel Shine, which attracted attention due to its compact size. I initially thought it would be low powered, and I was right. I just don't know how to explain whyPerforming the bench test I realized that the device was capable of competing on equal terms with its bigger brothers. I assume that there is a risk of overheating in case of prolonged use of the product.
In addition to its compact size, a voltage selector switch allowed you to choose between operating at 110V with around 750 watts of power or at 220 volts with 1000 watts of power.
Being the only piece available, I was already determined to buy it and put an end to the torture. This is a kit with an automatic bivolt straightening iron (surprising!) and a hairdryer with manual voltage selector.

The price in the physical store was quoted at BRL 169 / USD 33. I took the opportunity to check what the price of the same product would be if I bought it online in the same store, and to my surprise it would be BRL 119 / USD 23. An absurd difference!

Physical stores do not match online store prices. Due to several factors, such as employee maintenance and the entire structure of the store.
Conclusion
I purchased the product, paying a higher price than that available in online stores.
I did this because at times we have to know that money buys time. In order for me to leave the store with the product in hand, I had to pay the larger amount. I didn't have time to do more price research or wait a day for an online delivery to arrive.
As it was the last piece in stock, I had to accept some extra terms from the store, such as recognizing that it would not be possible to exchange it for another product exactly the same, as there was no longer any stock.
I resolved the problem and returned to my most important tasks, having invested little time, but needing to pay a higher amount if I had anticipated this demand.

Contexto
O Brasil possui uma catastrófica falha na implementação da sua rede de fornecimento de energia elétrica: operamos com duas tensões distintas, de acordo com limites geográficos.
Vamos entender o que isso significa: a depender de que região do pais você está, a energia elétrica disponibilizada pelas companhias será com uma tensão distinta: 110 ou 220 volts.
Em um pais com dimensões continentais (o Brasil é tão grande quanto o menor dos continentes), uma simples mudança para a cidade vizinha pode se tornar um pesadelo!
Alguns equipamentos elétricos são construídos para operar apenas em uma voltagem, sendo impossível modificá-los para que sejam compatíveis com outra tensão. Motores elétricos, geladeiras, aquecedores em geral são exemplo práticos e corriqueiros, encontrados em todos os lugares, e cujo uso está delimitado pelo mapa de tensão elétrica dos estados do país.
Paraná e Santa Catarina
Os estados vizinhos localizados na região Sul do Brasil tem essa particularidade, pois no Paraná a companhia Copel fornece energia em 110 volts, enquanto Santa Catarina opera em 220 volts.
E um ótimo exemplo é o caso da minha cidade natal, que faz divisa entre os estados. Nela, ao atravessar uma rua poderíamos mudar de estado, saindo de Santa Catarina e entrando no Paraná.

Como estou morando no Paraná, já estou adaptado e tenho 90% dos equipamentos elétricos em 110 volts. Mas o problema é quando precisamos viajar, e Santa Catarina foi nosso destino turístico neste feriado.
Eletrodomésticos essenciais
Dentre os diversos produtos que estão nas malas de viagens, temos o carregador de celular, que é bivolt. Mas aparelhos de aquecimento ou resfriamento não costumam ser. É o caso do secador de cabelo! Sendo um produto essencial, na opinião da minha esposa, coube a mim administrar o contratempo.
Na véspera da nossa partida, nossas opções de compra online foram imediatamente descartadas. Seria necessário utilizar os métodos medievais de comparecimento em loja física.
Enfrentar um quadro de vendedores sedentos por bater a meta é uma situação difícil, e você deve estar preparado. Para fins de balizar meu prejuízo, verifiquei primeiramente o mercado de usados. Mercado online de usados, claro.
Marketplace
O único motivo para eu manter meu cadastro no facebook é o uso do seu marketplace. Rapidamente uma pesquisa direcionada me mostrou que haviam apenas duas opções de secador de cabelo disponíveis. O contato com os vendedores resultou em um único retorno, com o valor negociado em BRL 100 / USD 20.
O estado de conservação do produto e a distância até o local da venda fizeram com que desistisse.
Tomando por base lojas online, uma rápida pesquisa demonstrou que o valor de referência para o produto novo seria entre BRL 100 / USD 20 e BRL 200 / USD 40, a depender da quantidade de funções.
Vamos para as lojas físicas!
Lojas físicas
Nas lojas físicas, diferente dos mercados virtuais, a presença em estoque de equipamentos em ambas as voltagens é praticamente nula. Você não vai em uma loja Americana no paraná e encontra eletrodomésticos 220 volts, porque não é comum ter esse tipo de energia disponível nas residências.
Na verdade você até encontra alguns produtos, até porque pagando um valor adicional é possível solicitar ligação de duas fases no Paraná. A ligação de energia padrão é neutro + fase (Monofásico). Pagando adicional você terá neutro + fase + fase (bifásico).
Foram selecionadas três lojas para avaliação de orçamento, cuja escolha se deu pela proximidade.
Orçamentos
A primeira loja, Colombo, ainda na porta de entrada informou que não possuía qualquer aparelho 220 volts em estoque.
A segunda loja, conhecida por importar produtos de origem duvidosa, provavelmente teria os melhores valores. A vendedora que nos abordou nos levou até a seção correspondente onde depois de averiguar as caixas informou que não teria na voltagem desejada.
A terceira loja, Magazine Luiza, por incrível que pareça não contava com equipe de abordagem, então entramos e começamos explorar a loja. Encontramos a seção de secadores de cabelo e rapidamente descartamos cinco modelos existentes. O sexto modelo particularmente foi muito interessante.
O equipamento da marca Philco destacava-se por seu nome fantasia Travel Shine, que chamou atenção pelo tamanho compacto. Inicialmente pensei que seria de baixa potência, e eu estava certo. Só não sei explicar porque ao realizar o teste de bancada percebi que o aparelho era capaz de concorrer de igual pra igual com seus irmãos maiores. Suponho que exista um risco de superaquecimento em caso de uso prologando do produto.
Além do tamanho compacto, uma chave seletora de voltagem permitia optar por operar em 110V com cerca de 750 watts de potência ou em 220 volts com 1000 watts de potência.
Sendo a única peça disponível, já estava decidido a comprar e acabar com a tortura. Trata-se de um kit com prancha de alisamento bivolt automática (surpreendente!) e o secador de cabelo com seletor manual de voltagem.

O valor na loja física foi cotado em BRL 169 / USD 33. Aproveitei para consultar como ficaria o preço do mesmo produto se eu comprasse online na mesma loja, e para minha surpresa ficaria em BRL 119 / USD 23. Uma diferença absurda!

As lojas físicas não cobrem os preços da loja online. Por diversos fatores, como por exemplo a própria manutenção de funcionário, e toda a estrutura da loja.
Conclusão
Eu realizei a compra do produto, pagando preço superior ao disponível nas lojas online.
Fiz isso porque em alguns momentos temos que saber que dinheiro compra tempo. Para eu sair da loja com o produto na mão, tive que desembolsar o valor maior. Eu não tinha tempo para mais pesquisas de preço ou se quer um dia de espera para chegada de uma entrega online.
Por ser a última peça em estoque tive que aceitar alguns termos extras da loja, como por exemplo reconhecer que não seria possível realizar a troca por outro produto exatamente igual, uma vez que não havia mais estoque.
Resolvi o problema e voltei para meus afazeres mais importantes, tendo investido pouco tempo, mas precisando desembolsar um valor superior caso eu tivesse me antecipado a essa demanda.
