For some time now I have been thinking about an effective way to obtain the liquidity I need to increase the speed of the operations I perform through @HiveRemesas.
Let me explain better, as some of you may already know, @HiveRemesas is a personal startup that is dedicated to the Crypto-Fiat exchange in Cuba. This service offers hivers an easy and simple way to exchange their $HIVE and $HBD for Cuban pesos or freely convertible currency.
It happens that sometimes I get an order and I don't have enough money to take it on, so I have to go out and exchange the cryptocurrencies for FIAT, and then pay for the order. This delays the process and affects profits.
I say that it delays the process because trading cryptocurrencies in Cuba is not a piece of cake, the steps to follow are several and you have to do them very carefully to avoid making mistakes. Add to this that sometimes it takes time for a peer to appear or that the payment gateway experiences delays, although to tell the truth the latter does not happen very often.
But that is not the only problem. Not having enough liquidity to pay an order, I am forced to go out to negotiate the moment I receive it. And as we all know, our beloved $HBD wants to be stable but gets out of control at times.
When the price rises above $1 dollar, I'm happy because I'm going to make a little bit more, but when the price drops below unity, my profits are reduced.
It is not a good season for the price of $HIVE either. The bear market in general is taking its toll on us and the bulls have not just woken up.
Attached are charts showing the volatility in the price of $HBD and the contraction in the price of $HIVE.
If I had the necessary liquidity to operate @HiveRemesas, I could take orders at the same time I receive them, thus avoiding delays to my clients and in addition, I could wait for better market conditions to trade cryptocurrencies, thus maximizing my profits.
Last but not least, by maximizing my profits I will eventually be able to offer better exchange rates to clients. So it is a win-win scenario for both parties.
How much liquidity do I need?
Taking into account the amounts that are delivered daily and the maximum amounts that have been delivered in a day, I have been able to conclude that I need 10,000 CUP (~50 USD) approximately to have immediate availability to take on any order. This can be an important amount or not, depending on the pocket of each person.
For me and for any ordinary Cuban, ten thousand pesos is good money.
With this background scenario, I considered several solutions:
Find a partner/investor: This would perhaps be the fastest way to get the liquidity I need for my business, but I feel it would affect the health of my startup and create a conflict of interest. Also the profit I make from this activity is not that much either, so I can't share it with someone else. Discarded solution ❌.
Borrowing a loan: While this is not a far-fetched solution, it is not something that can be done lightly either. Banks in my country do not have a loan culture and put many requirements before granting a loan. Besides, in a country like Cuba, with such an unstable economy, it would not be wise to contract a high-interest debt. Discarded solution ❌.
Put money out of my pocket: I think it would be a valid option, but it doesn't make me very happy. It's not that I don't have confidence in the business (I'm the first fan of @HiveRemesas) but it's happened to me before where I put money into something and destiny sees to it that I lose it all. no thanks! I can't afford that luxury now. Discarded solution ❌.
Make a Power Down: HiveRemesas currently has 70 HP (~$24 USD). These I have earned thanks to the content I publish from that account, such as contests, usage tutorials and monthly reports. However, HiveRemesas does not need HP to operate, as thanks to a recent hardfork done on our blockchain it is now possible to delegate Resource Credits. So I can keep the business operating by delegating RCs from my personal account without major complications. I am therefore converting the HP currently owned by the account to HIVE. It will take 13 weeks to complete but thanks to this I will gradually increase liquidity. Solution approved ✅.
Accumulate profits to convert them into liquidity: This would be a tweaked version of option number 3. On every trade I make through HiveRemesas I make a profit in either $HIVE or $HBD, depending on the cryptocurrency sent by the client. I usually transfer these profits to my personal account or savings account. The records are on the blockchain. But from this point on I will be doing something different: I will reserve my HiveRemesas earnings to use as liquidity in the future. Approved solution ✅.
Summarizing:
By doing the Power Down (which by the way is already active for 2 weeks) I will obtain half of the necessary liquidity. The other part of this liquidity will be obtained by changing to local currency the profits per operation that I am obtaining day after day. It will not be an immediate solution but it will be the safest one, since it does not need external agents and everything is obtained from the business itself.
Since the liquidity will be obtained gradually, the speed of HiveRemesas operations will increase in the same way.
Negative aspect to consider: I have against me the inflation that the Cuban economy suffers. Today I project that I need 10,000 CUP (~50 USD) but in 13 weeks I may need a little more than that, everything will depend on the price of the dollar against the CUP by then.
The above is a vivid example of the benefits of building and creating on Hive, as the blockchain allows us to leverage its own tokens to power our startups. In a country like Cuba, where access to credit or loans is almost zero, where the economy is inflationary and every day impoverishes its citizens more and more, having a project like Hive is being a real relief.

Desde hace un tiempo he estado pensando en una forma efectiva de obtener la liquidez que necesito para aumentar la velocidad de las operaciones que realizo a través de @HiveRemesas.
Les explico mejor, como algunos ya sabrán, @HiveRemesas es un emprendimiento personal que se dedica al intercambio Crypto-Fiat en Cuba. Este servicio ofrece a los hivers una vía fácil y sencilla para cambiar sus $HIVE y $HBD por pesos cubanos o moneda libremente convertible.
Sucede que a veces me llega una orden y no tengo el dinero suficiente para asumirla, así que tengo que salir a intercambiar las criptomonedas por FIAT, para luego pagar la orden. Esto demora el proceso y afecta las ganancias.
Digo que demora el proceso porque negociar con criptomonedas en Cuba no es coser y cantar, los pasos a seguir son varios y hay que hacerlos con mucho cuidado para no cometer errores. Súmale a esto que a veces demora en aparecer un peer o que la pasarela de pago experimenta demoras, aunque a decir verdad esto última no pasa muy a menudo.
Pero ese no es el único problema. Al no contar con la liquidez suficiente para pagar una orden, me veo obligado a salir a negociar en el momento que recibo la misma. Y como todos sabemos, nuestro amado $HBD quiere ser estable pero por momentos se descontrola.
Cuando el precio se eleva por encima de $1 dólar, yo estoy feliz porque voy a ganar un poquito más, pero cuando el precio cae por debajo de la unidad, mis ganancias se ven reducidas.
Tampoco está siendo una buena temporada para el precio de $HIVE. El bear market en general nos está pasando factura y los toros no acaban de despertar.
Adjunto gráficos que demuestran la inestabilidad en el precio de $HBD y la contracción en el precio de $HIVE.
Si contara con la liquidez necesaria para operar @HiveRemesas, podría asumir las órdenes en el mismo momento que las recibo, evitándole así demoras a mis clientes y además, podría esperar mejores condiciones en el mercado para negociar las criptomonedas, maximizando de esta forma mis ganancias.
Por último y no menos importante, al maximizar mis ganancias podré eventualmente ofrecer mejores tarifas de cambio a los clientes. Así que es un escenario de ganar - ganar para ambas partes.
¿Cuánta liquidez necesito?
Teniendo en cuenta las cantidades que se entregan a diario y las cantidades máximas que se han entregado en un día, he podido concluir que necesito 10,000 CUP (~50 USD) aproximadamente para tener disponibilidad inmediata para asumir cualquier orden. Esta puede ser una cantidad importante o no, según el bolsillo de cada quien.
Para mí y para cualquier cubano de a pie, diez mil pesos es un buen dinero.
Con este escenario de fondo, me planteé varias soluciones:
Encontrar un socio/inversor: Esta sería quizás la manera más rápida para obtener la liquidez que necesito para mi negocio, pero siento que afectaría la salud de mi emprendimiento y crearía conflicto de intereses. Además las ganancias que obtengo por esta actividad tampoco es que sea mucha, así que no puedo compartirla con alguien más. Solución descartada ❌.
Pedir un préstamo: Si bien no es una solución descabellada, tampoco es algo que se pueda hacer a la ligera. Los bancos en mi país no tienen cultura de préstamos y anteponen muchos requisitos para otorgar uno. Además, en una país como Cuba, con una economía tan inestable no sería sensato contraer una deuda con altos intereses. Solución descartada ❌.
Poner dinero de mi bolsillo: Creo que sería una opción válida, pero no me hace muy feliz. No es que no le tenga confianza al negocio (yo soy el primer fan de @HiveRemesas) pero ya me ha sucedido otras veces que pongo dinero en algo y el destino se encarga de que lo pierda todo. ¡No gracias! Ahora no puedo darme ese lujo. Solución descartada ❌.
Hacer un Power Down: HiveRemesas cuenta a día de hoy con 70 HP (~$24 USD). Estos los he conseguido gracias al contenido que publico desde esa cuenta, tales como concursos, tutoriales de uso y reportes mensuales. Por otro lado, HiveRemesas no necesita HP para operar pues gracias a un reciente hardfork realizado en nuestra blockchain ahora es posible delegar Créditos de Recursos. Así que puedo mantener operativo el negocio delegando RC desde mi cuenta personal sin mayores complicaciones. Por tanto, estoy convirtiendo en HIVE el HP que actualmente posee la cuenta. Tardará 13 semanas en completarse pero gracias a esto iré incrementando gradualmente la liquidez. Solución aprobada ✅.
Acumular las ganancias para convertirlas en liquidez: Esta sería una versión más ajustada de la opción número 3. En cada operación que realizo a través de HiveRemesas obtengo una ganancia en $HIVE o en $HBD, según la criptomoneda que envíe el cliente. Normalmente transfiero estas ganancias a mi cuenta personal o a mi cuenta de ahorros. Los registros están en la blockchain. Pero a partir de este momento estaré haciendo algo diferente: Reservaré mis ganancias de HiveRemesas para usarlas como liquidez en el futuro. Solución aprobada ✅.
En resumen:
Haciendo el Power Down (que por cierto ya se encuentra activo hace 2 semanas) obtendré la mitad de la liquidez necesaria. La otra parte de esta liquidez la pienso obtener cambiando a moneda local las ganancias por operación que voy obteniendo día tras día. No será un proceso inmediato pero sí será el más seguro, ya que no necesita de agentes externos y todo se consigue a partir del propio negocio.
Ya que la liquidez se irá obteniendo de manera gradual, de esta misma manera se irá incrementando la velocidad en las operaciones de HiveRemesas.
Aspecto negativo a considerar: Tengo en contra la inflación que sufre la economía cubana. Hoy proyecto que necesito 10,000 CUP (~50 USD) pero en 13 semanas es posible que necesite un poco más que eso, todo va a depender del precio que tenga el dólar contra el CUP para ese entonces.
El anterior es un vivo ejemplo de los beneficios que tiene construir y crear en Hive, ya que la blockchain nos permite apalancarnos de sus propios tokens para impulsar nuestros emprendimientos. En un país como Cuba, donde el acceso a créditos o préstamos es casi nulo, donde la economía es inflacionaria y cada día empobrece más a sus ciudadanos, contar con un proyecto como Hive está siendo un verdadero alivio.
