So free speech is a thing, but that does not mean we are free of consequences for the things we say or do. If people are doing or saying things that are not right they should face the consequences.

Sort:

No. A prime example is Black Rifle Coffee. Conservatives put them on blast for what I would deem a ill-advised tweet that Kyle Rittenhouse was a murderer or something to that effect.

Keep in mind this was a company that made conservativism their brand prior to this incident. The problem was BRC was expressing preconceived notions regarding Rittenhouse's guilt or innocence BEFORE he was judged via the court of law. That was foolish but they have the right to express their opinions either way.

Still this does not negate the impact such sentiments would have to their target demographic who they were quickly alienated from. This makes me long for the age where businesses focused on their products and abstained from politics. In fact, I wish it was that way today but the influence of brands in modern times is very prolific in our culture.

Perhaps, to an uncomfortable degree but I may be biased as most corporations tend to lean left. Although, I would like to say I would be equally uncomfortable with a right wing mega corporation that was working to decisively influence our culture and politics.

I do not believe our forefathers anticipated this so.

The real problem is the polarization of American politics. It should not be left vs. right it should be a more moderate cooperation. Remove religion, social issues and focus on policy without special interest which is highly funded by cooperations.
