Starbucks

"DEAR STARBUCKS, NICE ONE, BUT MY BITCOIN IS WORTH MORE THAN YOUR COFFEE"

Starbucks customers will be able to pay for their coffee and other goods in Bitcoin through a digital wallet called Bakkt downloadable via the app store or the play store.

Bakkt's CEO Gavin Michael stated that the wallet has been tested by 500,000 participants before its launch, this partnership with Starbucks is only a stepping stone since more partnerships will be realized in the following months.

It's nice to see news like this since they add more credibility to the use of cryptocurrencies and attract more people, but for me, it is nothing but another attempt from the big institutions to collect and control as many BTC as possible.

The price of any Starbucks product in BTC is worth much much much more compared to its price in fiat.

I absolutely agree. Satoshi had digital cash in mind, but that's just not the way it shook out. Bitcoin became digital gold. Monero makes a much better digital cash.

I somewhat disagree. For crypto to be an effective replacement for fiat you have to be able to spend it. The more ways there are to do that and the easier it is, the better it is for crypto. And whether you pay Starbucks in bitcoin or they buy bitcoin with the fiat you give them makes no difference.
