I saw this article last night as the headline stuck out and wanted to check out what I am missing and if this was something new. Normally with us in crypto if there is something new we will be the first to hear about it and if we have not heard about it then the chances are it is a scam.
The article mentioned that this company Opto Miner is registered in the UK and for a relative small investment you can join a global computer network farming various crypto. There is no need to purchase a miner and the outlay is your investment package. They throw around words like cloud mining, cold wallets, security and that they have been around for 7 years. If you were new to crypto and did not know any better then this could sound believable.

As soon as I saw the investment packages and the returns each month it was very obvious this was a scam and I am sure many have fallen prey to this. Unfortunately many people learn the hard way as this is too good to be true.
Just doing a quick check on the company many have lost money and after the initial investment many were convinced and paid in more to free up their initial investment.

I hate seeing this being promoted and I do think all these so called crypto/financial news platforms should be held liable for spreading any scam. Anyone who has any knowledge with crypto would know immediately this is dodgy and these articles should never be allowed to be published. Surely whoever helps promote these types of scams should also be held accountable. We should all be policing crypto stopping any scams as soon as they surface.
These types of crypto scams used to pop up regularly and the people who were caught out were the ones who could not afford to lose the money. Through desperation or greed many are blinded by the truth and why these scams will always catch people.
A few years ago we had a scam in South Africa which involved billions of dollars and I only found out about it from a friend who had invested and had convinced his family members to invest. When he mentioned his new investment and what he had done I told him immediately he had lost his investment. Why people do not ask others who are in crypto first is what gets me because for us this is too obvious.
Any new trend we will know about it because we are invested in this online space and need to stay up to date with anything new. The oldest news story goes back to July with regard to Opto Miner and has definitely not been around for 7 years which is stated in the article. Common sense tells you the article is filled with multiple red flags yet if you do not understand how mining works you can see how people could fall for this scam. The scary part is many of these articles are current now so this is still ongoing so whoever is running this is making money.

I did Nice Hash for a while and that didn't turn out too bad for me. I should have held onto the BTC I made from it though. I remember when HELIUM came out you had to buy the equipment and it really felt like a scam. That one ended up being a big money maker that I dropped the ball on...
This one is a scam though so you need to be careful what you get mixed up in. Just keep stacking whatever you are making and don't spend it.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Unbelievable how many scammers are out there and this is going to only get worse. You need a good level of understanding and attention too, if you want to be safe.
Yes you do need to understand the basics at least or you are toast.
If you dig deeper, you'll find those news-outlets have links in ownership to those running the scam. It is very common.
I was thinking just that when writing the post and you find these "news" articles all come out the same office published under a different company/agency. Probably the same author under different false names.
Considering the same thing happens with traditional media, it is no surprise the same thing happens in this segment of the world, too.
It is all part of the facade of authority that a good masthead gives to those unable to dig deeper.

STOPWhen the yield is too high, something is wrong somewhere. However, many people I know hate a financial tool that is slow. They prefer quick things that promise big numbers. No wonder many are fooled.
