The Need To Be Self Sufficient - AI Is Already Here

I spoke about job losses and AI in my previous post which has lead me onto this topic especially seeing and knowing where AI is headed in the work place. I am sure many in the Hive community are not concerned as it seems like every second or third person I talk to is some type of developer or is at least clued up. Not everyone has these skills and for many changing jobs and retraining is a step too far.

I am in a fortunate position as I have been working for myself for most of my working life and I do believe many will find themselves having to do something similar. This working for myself was not out of choice and was a decision made for me 25 years ago when I was medically boarded from work. This placed me in a position where I can never work for anyone else again and if I want to work then I have to work for myself. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise even though I felt cheated at the time. What this did made me see the other side of the coin and I have never looked back.

How many people by 2030 will have their lives turned upside down through AI is going to be scary. When you look at the market place many in their twenties, thirties and forty's must be worried as AI is coming for their jobs. A good example was Lufthansa announcing the cutting of 4000 administrative jobs by 2030. The operating margin has been fluctuating between 4.4% and 6.5% and by 2030 when AI is operational the target is 8-10%. This is how all companies will view employees as you are just a number that can be replaced.

The idea that one needs to be self sufficient is more clear than ever even if it is a hobby that could be turned into full time employment. I know I will always be able to work wherever I might be through the knowledge I have and will find and set up my own business. How many people can do this or even think like this because this is what should be happening.

I have to admit I feel very fortunate to have found an online home on HIVE and have been able to have an almost 8 year head start. Over the coming years places like HIVE will take on a different type of importance as it offers someone the ability to earn online and provide food for the family. Hive is still that far out there when it comes to the idea of being able to earn yet it is a fact that we know is possible.

From the start of this current crypto cycle I have been concentrating on building passive income streams in various other staked crypto projects. This is easier said than done and 47 months later I have managed to get one off the ground that is offering fairly decent monthly returns if required. By the time 2030 comes around I am hoping to have at least 3 crypto stakes offering similar types of returns.

Passive income is the holy grail of all income and is regarded as the hardest type of income to find. When 2030 ticks over I would have at least had 8 years in the bank building for the future and should pay off handsomely at some point. This may sound kind of crazy to anyone working right now, but there is no harm in preparing for the future by using any means necessary. Look at how retail had to adjust to online sales and we knew back in 2005 this was going to happen and took 20 years to get to this point. AI is already impacting jobs and this will not take 20 years to dominate the work place.

I think you are already ahead of the curve in many respects. Most people I know are still so clueless to the potential of AI, and too busy with their current job to really dig into it too deeply. I think the greatest benefit at the moment will be companies streamlining operations and cutting down time spent on administrative tasks. Once many people lose their jobs from this at the big companies, I think there will be a new wave of uses discovered from the average person to either learn new skills or go to work for themselves in one way or another.
