I never realised the 'mash' (if it is the mash?) got so dry early on!

Very interesting process!

It's not too dry, its a porridge - kinda mix)
Then you get the wort out of the mash - that's when it goes dry, in the filter tun.)

I just thought the whole process was proper liquid, there you go! Quite the learning experience for me!

1-crush the malt
2-mix it with water = mash in
3-temperature rest (dissolve starches into the sugar)
4-separate wort (liquid) from the malt
5-boil, add hops, chill, ferment with yeast... chill and drink)))
