If there’s one use case or group of dApps that I’d say is the most marketable aspect of the Hive Blockchain, it would definitely be the short-form blogging platforms like Snaps and Waves. Both dApps have been consistently generating strong engagement within the community. I believe many in the Hive community would agree that Hive, as a social media platform, has become more enjoyable because of Snaps and Waves. So, if I were to promote Hive in the future, I would focus on inviting people to experience Snaps and Waves, mainly because they’re more relevant in today’s fast-paced world, where most people have limited free time and shorter attention spans.

Another reason these platforms have a higher potential for onboarding new users is their better user retention rate. And if you’re following my thoughts and agree that Snaps and Waves are among the best dApps on Hive, let me share a few tips on how you can achieve success on these short-form blogging platforms.
Post Genuine Content
First and foremost, we at Hive value authenticity! That’s something that sets Hive apart from other social media platforms like Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, where many users post staged or exaggerated content. That’s just my observation. On Hive, you can remain anonymous, yet still share genuine stories from your life that others can relate to and appreciate for their honesty. Just be yourself, your followers will engage with you no matter how simple or mundane your posts may seem.
Show Up Every Day
As with any social media platform, consistency is key. You’ll remain relevant and may even gain popularity if the community sees you regularly, ideally every day. Unlike Hive’s long-form blogging platforms, where posting lengthy blogs daily might create a negative impression among curators, Snaps and Waves thrive on frequent updates. In fact, I encourage posting at least 2–3 times a day. Of course, make sure each post still offers some value, no matter how short it is.
Add Value to Your Post
When I suggest posting several times a day, I don’t mean you should just say “Good morning,” “Good noon,” and “Good night,” LOL!
Instead, try adding context or meaning to your greetings. For instance, if you say “Good morning,” you could share why it’s a good morning, maybe because the sunrise looks beautiful or you’re enjoying a hearty breakfast. Add a photo to go along with it. Doing so makes your posts more engaging, and your followers will be more likely to upvote or comment on them.
Be Engaged!

I cannot emphasize this enough, engagement is the key to success on Snaps and Waves. Treat these platforms as your community within Hive, not just a place to dump content. If you post something and forget about it, you risk being forgotten too. Social media is a two-way street, the more you engage with other users, the more you’ll grow your connections and following.
And remember, the more engagement your posts receive, the greater your potential rewards from the Snaps and Waves reward pool.
Pay It Forward
There are many ways to do this. Once you start earning from Snaps and Waves, you can use your rewards to stake more tokens to your account, tip other users, or simply spread good vibes throughout the platform. While this isn’t mandatory, it’s a great way to show appreciation for the community. Powering up and participating in curation or Hive governance, through Witness and DHF proposal voting, not only strengthens your account but also contributes to the long-term growth of the ecosystem.
In the end, success on Snaps and Waves isn’t just about posting often, but about building genuine connections within the Hive community. These platforms thrive on authenticity, consistency, and meaningful engagement, which are all reflections of what Hive truly stands for. If you keep showing up, adding value, and supporting others, you’ll not only grow your presence but also enjoy the rewarding experience that comes with it. Remember, every small interaction contributes to the bigger picture of a thriving and connected Hive ecosystem. So go ahead, share your stories, engage with others, and make your mark on Snaps and Waves!

What a great post! I spend a lot of time and voting power on Waves and really enjoy my time there. I like that people can use the translate feature on Waves and read or post in other languages. Waves is the perfect place for new onboards to get started making friends! ❤️
Absolutely agree, Melinda! I also like the translate feature because there are users who post using their native language and it makes Waves more inclusive as well.
And I also want to take this opportunity to thank you for your effort in curating Waves post. Have a great day ahead!
I do appreciate your efforts to use #hashtags on your Waves!
I enjoy adding the hashtags because I also think that it makes my Waves post searchable using the hashtags panel. It's another good feature of Waves :)
I can't agree less because as an onboarder I noticed how consistent newbies are on snaps and waves because it doesn't require much from them, gradually they become more comfortable with creating long content, personally I enjoy snaps and waves a lot because even in a bus I do snaps and waves, quality it's also essential despite that is called short content.
You’re absolutely right! Snaps and Waves make onboarding smoother and help newbies feel comfortable expressing themselves. It’s amazing how much creativity fits into short-form posts! 🌟
I won't lie I love it so much
This post is spot on! I've been having a very busy life for days now and can't even focus on the many things going through my mind and life's other struggles. However, I still try to stay active through the short form content on waves and snaps as I can just be spontaneous there. I must also say that posts like yours are wholesome and heartwarming when I come across them. This also spurs me to keep showing up. Thanks a lot for sharing, I enjoyed reading every bit of it🙏
I’m glad you found the post motivating! That’s exactly what Snaps and Waves are for... simple, spontaneous ways to stay active even on busy days. Keep showing up, you’re doing great!

Thanks so much boss
Someone once asked ( though in other web 3 platform) , between posting and engaging which is most important? A lot of people said posting, that without posting there won't be any content to engage on. While that may sound correct, I think engaging is important ( my response to that question). If everyone keeps posting without engaging , won't the Blockchain be boring? I went further to state that engaging builds connection. While it is good to post, it's also better to engage but it is best to post and engage. Some people post and leave without engaging, that's one sided. It should be balanced.
Thanks for sharing such a nice insight on how to thrive on Snaps and Wave. So valuable.
You said it perfectly! Posting and engaging should go hand in hand. Engagement gives life to the content we share... it’s what keeps Hive’s community spirit alive and thriving. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🙌
Exactly!💯 👌
It's my pleasure!
I'm really glad to have your feedback. Enjoy your day!
Great pointers and as a Snaps content creator this will surely up my game.
Great tips! I think being real and staying active really helps on Hive. When we share honestly and interact with others, it feels more like a community. I’m excited to try Snaps and Waves more and connect with new people.
I haven't explored these Hive functionalities. I think it's time for me to check how Snaps and Waves work. Thanks!
