Staying Active Through Every Season

in LeoFinance10 days ago

With the current price movement of Hive, and crypto in general, people may feel discouraged from going online (on Web2 social media apps) simply because they don’t feel like it, and that’s understandable. It’s something to be expected in such a volatile market and overall downtrend, it just doesn’t excite them anymore. But for the Hive social space, I see things differently. I think we’ve already shaken off the ones who didn’t have strong belief in the future of Hive, and those who remain are the true believers of the platform. Otherwise, why would they still spend time here posting and engaging if the earnings were no longer worth it for them, right? That made me realize who will stick to this platform through both the bullish times and the bearish ones.

For me, it’s quite straightforward, I participate regardless of the season or price trend, and I want to expand on that through this post.

When times are bullish for Hive, our blog posts earn $$ to $$$ in fiat value, and it gives us a sense of achievement. Our time spent creating content and engaging with others feels lucrative. It gives us the feeling that we are truly able to monetize our content in a way that Web2 social platforms simply can’t offer, and that’s what makes Hive great for everyone. You don’t need to be an influencer to earn a decent amount here. As long as your posts are authentic and make curators happy to upvote, you will earn, whether you’re a newbie or someone without many followers.

And when times are bearish, you realize that it’s also the best time to stay active on the platform. Why? Because during this period, your Hive token earnings increase in quantity. Essentially, bearish seasons are when your posts tend to earn more Hive tokens per payout because $1 of upvote value converts into more $HIVE when the token price is low.

Here’s a simple example:

  • When $HIVE is $1 USD, a $1 upvote earns your post 0.25 $HIVE and 0.25 HBD, with the rest going to the curator.
  • When $HIVE is $0.10 USD, a $1 upvote earns you 2.50 $HIVE and 0.25 HBD.

This simple example showcases the benefit of earning during bear markets. You earn 10x more Hive tokens compared to when the price is $1.

Then, once the price of $HIVE increases again, the value of the 2.50 $HIVE also increases, potentially 10x. This demonstrates how one’s perspective can change how Hive earnings are viewed. That principle is something I’ve held onto since I began my journey on this platform. It’s a simple mindset, but it keeps me motivated to keep posting and engaging even during the bearish seasons.

In fact, I’m more active during the low times because I know many users will dial down their activity. That means curators have fewer posts to evaluate, giving my content a higher chance of being noticed and upvoted.

So when fewer posts are being made, it becomes a good opportunity to double down on your activity in the platform, and the advantage is that it becomes easier to connect with others, especially curators.

Looking back, every market cycle has taught me something new about commitment and perspective. Hive isn’t just about earnings, but about the people who stay through all conditions. If we continue showing up, the long-term benefits will speak for themselves. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. May we all keep moving forward with purpose and clarity.

I like your simple example, as I like to keep things simple, and to me this means to keep on going every day, no matter what :)

Thanks for the comment mate! And yeah, technical are for technical people... So I decided go for the simpler approach, something that will resound to my fellow creators as well 😁

Have a great day ahead!

I totally agree, as it is the best way to go in my mind.
Hope that your weekend is good.

Thank youu for sharing your sentiments. As a hiver of 2 years- really not that long yet, i admittedly am in doubt of the future of hive. But then again, id go back to my main reason for joining this platform- to share my passion for writing and connecting with others thru blog posts. Although i wouldnt deny that the rewards were a huge factor too. It trully did help me as an adult with bills. Unfortunately, for some reason, my postings lately doesnt receive high upvotes the way it used to. So im also in thesame boat as most people here, having the question of whether to continue or not.

How about you, whats your driving force in continuing?

Totally understand how you feel… many of us go through that phase. For me, what keeps me going is the long-term view and the love for writing, connecting, and growing with the community. The earnings help, but the consistency eventually pays off in both tokens and relationships. Keep creating… your voice still matters here. 💛🐝

Awee thank youu. It's hard to be consistent but I will try my best.

A lower hive price indeed is followed by a lower activity. One can say that it is indeed easier to be noticed by the curators, but I doubt it. I have been tracking some curation accounts and it is remarkable that some authors do get post after post an upvote from the same curators. And no not every post they do write are gems.

Even stranger to see that these authors aren't growing in HP.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too… some accounts do get repeat votes. But even with that, lower activity seasons still give more room for others to be seen, especially if we stay consistent and engage more. It’s not perfect, but I believe steady effort still makes a difference over time. 💪

I'm optimistic about it... based on experience, I'm still getting unique curators from time to time. And while some will go, new ones appear once in a while. And because of that, I feel that there is still hope about Hive's curation to improve.

Thanks for dropping by, great to have your feedback as well.

Sending ecency curation vote.

Thank you for the Ecency curation vote, appreciate the support! 🙌

You are welcome

In my case, I am exploring other ways to earn HIVE, not just writing long posts.

That’s smart... multiple ways to earn Hive definitely help. Hopefully will read about your findings in your post in the future. 🍻

Yeah it is important to stay active. But one must not forget to rest when needed as well

True… staying active is key, but taking breaks is just as important. Balance is everything. 👍

I've noticed that this is how it works: when the value of the Hive token drops too low, activity usually decreases as well. Posts start to disappear, you always see the same people, and folks tend to disappear.

Then, when the value goes up, everyone comes back haha. I've always stayed consistent, posting whether the value is high or low. I think consistency is the best thing we can focus on.

Exactly! Activity always dips when price drops, but consistency makes all the difference. Glad you’ve stayed steady too. 💪

We love your support by voting @detlev.witness on HIVE .

Yeah, I could not agree more! I just did the math and now it's the best time to get most hive by interacting with other people
