Earlier today, one of my TikTok videos seemed to attract a lot of attention. As I write this post, it has already received over 12,000 views, along with more likes and comments than any of my other videos.
Since I'm so used to how things work on Hive, I instinctively wanted to "like" the comments on my TikTok video. While pressing the "like" button, I found myself imagining that I was somehow rewarding the commenters—just like we do on Hive. Unfortunately, TikTok likes don’t carry any monetary value for the commenters.
I guess I sometimes confuse the mechanisms of Hive and TikTok, forgetting how different the two platforms are. Still, since it's common practice on TikTok to like the comments one receives, I’ve adopted that habit as part of my activity there as well.
On Hive, however, I’ve made it a habit to reward the comments my posts receive through the upvote button. Even if the upvote is only worth a few cents, it's the gesture that matters. It’s my way of showing appreciation—by reading their comments, replying to them, and giving them an upvote.
I believe this practice has encouraged some of my regular commenters to keep checking my posts and continue engaging with them.
That, to me, is the beauty of Hive’s reward system: we have the ability—and the right—to reward commenters through our upvotes.

Going back to my earlier mention of the TikTok post that’s currently going viral—as I was liking the comments, I couldn’t help but feel that I wasn’t showing enough appreciation. Even though I was replying to them and giving their comments a like, the habit of rewarding people here on Hive is so deeply ingrained in me that it felt lacking. I actually had the urge to tip them or send them something—just to make them feel that I truly appreciated and wanted to reward their engagement.
Anyway, all I'm trying to say is that I truly appreciate the users who take the time to read my posts and leave comments. For me, it’s a reassuring sign that the platform is still buzzing with life—and not just an empty space. So it's always a pleasure for me to upvote comments, because I believe they genuinely deserve it.
At the end of the day, meaningful engagement is what keeps a platform alive. Whether it's through a simple comment, a like, or an upvote, every interaction matters. I'm grateful for the support, and I’ll continue doing my part to give back to the community.
Just keep at it, as the same as hive, things take time to evolve. Sooner or later, you will have it all figured out and then real progress will emerge.

Genuine, engaging comments are proof that someonecread your blog, so they are indeed very important.

It's a good habit, my friend, to reward those who comment on your post here on #Hive, a big difference with Tik Tok, but the important thing is that you always maintain that interaction in the comments, as you say, with whoever takes the time to read and make a small comment regarding your work on both platforms.
Yes exactly. Tiktok has creator fund to reward creators but it's up to the algorithm to make it happen.
Tiktok offers other content monetization which is what I'm working on right now. hopefully I achieve success over there :)

Yes definitely! Tiktok has a very large user base, it has 1.8 Billion MAUs. If Hive gets 1% of those users to join then it will be phenomenal.

Commentors are nice for engagement as they help the algorithm, which in turn helps commentors get videos and entertainment better tailored to their preference. It's self-gratification without needing a monetary reward.
I agree when it comes to quality comments. There are some people who make an effort to put a good comment. Or, they feel strongly about something said, which leads to the same thing.
On the other hand, there are a lot of "thank you", "well said" type of comments. I guess those don't add that much value to the post itself.
I love upvoting comments, especially on Snaps and inLeo.

Interactions keep the hive alive, no doubt there are people who want to say something, others who are eager to read and whom we can influence, in one way or another, with our words. It is always in our hands to do the right thing, according to our philosophy, and to be courteous to others who care and see in the publications something of value.
When you have made an habit of commentinng, it becomes hard to stop. I guess it's the same way it is for writing. I've been trying to be consistent with my daily writing since last year, I was even pursuing the yearly badge until I missed a day by one minute which felt like a pain in the heart, but that was when I discovered I had already formed a habit that is hard to stop. I am trying to do the same with commening at this point, I hope I find success in it soon.
