It's definitely an interesting challenge to figure them all out and to be aware of which tribes negate which other tags from their "official" curation. On VYB, for example, if you use other "general" tribe tags, you're unlikely to be curated by any of the major trails following the VYB tag.
You have to be selective and wise with your tag usage. Of course, there are also some tokens that don't have their own front end, but you can vote posts with certain tags and get curation rewards.

You are right, it can be pretty challenging to get the best output from your posts. I tend to concentrate on 4-5 tribes which correspond most to my content and I try to build my stake there.
