Hey everyone! I have mentioned @dcitygame on my blog a couple times, it's a very interesting NFT-based passive-style game on the HIVE blockchain created by @gerber. I started playing it last year around the time that second edition came out. Recently, the first edition cards have stopped printing, and the third edition will be coming out...

It's no secret if you look at my account(s) that I have been stacking cards for a year now and having a lot of fun engaging with the tokenomics of SIM, the main currency of DCity, which you earn from holding various cards in your HIVE account.
SIM can be bought and sold for HIVE (actually swap.HIVE) on Hive Engine, as well as used to purchase cards from other players on the market — or 800 SIM per each random, newly printed card from the main game account.
However, I'm not going to go into great depth about the details of how the game operates in this post, as there are some excellent guides that have been created by @ecoinstant, @nealmcspadden, and @libertycrypto27 — which are going to be a part of this giveaway.
Now, as they say... sharing is caring, right? Read on to see how you could receive some valuable cards from my city!
How to Enter

Requirements

1 — You must either have never played DCity before, or been playing for less than two weeks. New players only, no alt accounts! Only one entry per person.
2 — Read the four posts listed below in order to get acquainted with how DCity works:

and

(Note that there is overlap in the information presented in the first three, which were written last year, while the final post will bring you up to date for the upcoming third edition.)

3 — After reading these posts, write a creative post of your own using the #dcity tag that conveys your reaction to learning about the game. This can be in the form of an analysis, explaining what you learned, asking questions about things that seemed unclear, adding ideas about what you might want to see added to the game in the future, or even some art or other creative expression inspired by the game.
4 — Comment on this post with a link to your entry so I can find it!

The deadline for this giveaway will be 24 hours after @dcitygame begins printing 3rd edition, whose release date is not yet announced, but is likely to be quite soon™️. Follow the official game account to stay updated. I will also write a follow-up post when we get close to the deadline.
Prizes

First of all, I will give a Basic Home from First Edition to anyone who enters with a good-faith effort. (Very short posts, spammish posts, etc. will not be counted, so put some effort into it.) In addition, I will add more buildings to posts that go above and beyond with creativity and attention to detail. The cards will be sent right to your HIVE username.
From doing past giveaways I have learned that it is sometimes best to wait and see how much interest there is before announcing exact prizes. So, when we get closer to the deadline of the contest I will announce what the exact prizes will be based on how many entries there are. However, I do plan to give some pretty awesome cards to the top 3-5 posts that will be worth a fair bit of HIVE / USD!
The better the winning entries are, the more valuable will be the final rewards.
This will likely include things like Stadiums, Casinos, Banks, Factories, Restaurants, Farms, Research Centers, etc... along with some cool backgrounds and perhaps technology cards.
I welcome any other current DCity players that would like to support this initiative to volunteer to add additional prizes to the prize pool :-)

I heard your username mentioned in Dcity stats and posts and heard you were one of the top players if not the top player. You must have spent a lot of time and loved the game. In the early 90s I played Sim City for the first time and stayed up all night several days in a row.
Now my kids like games like this but today most of the sim games are rigged to get people spend more money. I never looked deep into Dcity, but the set up sims to be like sim city with no graphics. The graphics and watching the buildings being made was what my kids enjoyed most.
As for me, I don't think I have time to play games, but I will take a look at the links you sent and consider writing a post about it. Thanks for tagging me. I guess it was hard to find people who haven't gotten into dcity yet.
DCity is basically just buying and holding NFTs that have unique ID Numbers that have different stats. It is definitely "pay-to-play," a kind of speculative self-contained economy that is attempted to be designed to be self-regulating.
Perhaps in the future it will be a standalone download game with slick graphics — who knows? :-D
Haha, I definitely get it! @gerber has described it as a "passive game" before, it's made to be such that you don't really need to do anything but have the cards and occasionally log in to see how stuff's going or choose how to spend your SIM income.
Anyway, I tagged you mostly because I always find your posts creative, so even if you aren't interested in buying cards yourself maybe you'll win a small lil' city free of charge :-P

Beautifully written, one thing Dan is that you're often really passionate when you set your mind to something, I haven't really played DCity and this is because of my college commitment and because I suck at almost everything gaming hahaha. Nevertheless the main issues is time and I planned to actually begin during December when I'm actually rid of my commitments here, nevertheless, I hope I will have more insight from you when I begin to play.

Interesting. I've never played DCITY game before though I've heard a few people talk about it in this blockchain. The only game I remembered trying was splinterland which @johndoer123 encouraged me to. I was very bad at it anyway. I will go through those guides written by others to know how it works. Thanks for the mention. Time to earn some cards!😄
