Best thing about decentralized projects like Hive, LEO etc. is they give tool & empower others. Imagine if LEO was to be built from scratch. Imagine if LEO had to find audience from zero...... Imagine the same for CUB without LEO.
As for gaming - we've already seen how congested ETH can be for gaming. Jus allowing Splinterlands to pull off what they did is enough story for Hive. Now we need more devs to know these awesome stuff can be pulled off on Hive.
I'd say let's encourage devs to build clones of popular Dapps (but with 0 Tx fees) on Hive to show off the power of Hive. If Tron could become a huge crypto copying EOS and making copy/paste style Dapps - we can do that AND have our own innovative Dapps. https://tribaldex.com is already starting to do well.
