At least we can be sure the real estate industry I going nowhere as long as humans are concerned. At least real estate investors or potential investors what to hold onto.
Nevertheless, it will be good advice not to stay too local in this industry. It has been the reason why some are just staying dormant in this industry; their mode of operation is too siloed. I can attest to this from the local realtors and housing entrepreneurs over here.
Talking of advancement, it seems its pace is even moving into another phase. At first it seemed just decorations and fanciful furniture was a good take home for beauty. Setting a house to standard will still be prioritized, this is what exposure had brought to the table.
It will burst into the rurals, turning it to new urbanization. This also opens up opportunities for something else; more energy demand. Maybe I will talk about this in the later part.
We are going to be looking at how IoT (internet of things) will merge with real estate to produce another level of housing experience. We are not just just talking of of IoT as a standalone, we are incorporating AI feature in this system.
What is the difference here? Beyond just physical Internet connected devices collecting data, the brain (AI) will be there to feed upon it and trigger decisions in the absentia of humans.
One of the best places to introduce AI is where there is enough data to feed. The advantage I am seeing here, is that it will help reduce household incidents or accidents. We ALL know the reason why a house was set ablaze was because someone fell to off the gas, it took the whole house and the combustion was so much that when a little spark was made available it was a cabooom!!!.
So how would AI have helped here? Let's say with the presence of IoT/AI, a window would been triggered open so the gas can escape into free space.
Add to that this will be entirely done in the absence of tension. Little in-house incidents go air-wire because of poor instance decision making. It is one of those attributes shown by humans, you came and saw an electric spark by the corner of the room and you are just panicking with no decision yet made.
Fear and shock grips you; emotions driving and yes, the fire is still burning. I has such an experience when I had my cylinder sending out fire from the TOP. A little weird but I was surprised how poor the decisions I made was.
Before I could get my head to mixing water with detergents to put out that fire, it took a while. If that cylinder were to explode, I think it would have done just that before I had the right decision. A funny one it may seem because I soaked my entire Kitchen floor with water trying to put out LPG light.
What I forgot was that there is oxygen in water. This is where IoT/AI driven house experience will come to the big rescue. Nevertheless, we have to understand such set-up will be expensive to both own or rent and also maintain.
It as all boils down to will AI application be cheap in the future or expensive? With those struggling to hedge in this industry, it is a proof of it being very expensive.
To conclude, let me add, the flaws we will experience when these two pair will be easy human exploitation. You should see that already with your mobile; how it keeps customizing itself to pick your daily interest.
This tools will be transmitting free data to its manufacturers. As I earlier said, the duty of AI is to feed. Making it a home experience is like putting a mirror in your, it is never tired of showing you you image as long as you are in sight. Same will be with AI, making it an in-house app will bring so many privacy issues.
Of course this is something that will seem too little to be considered. Maybe until you come to realize that a program knows more about you than your very self..
