One of the most scary things is working with people and yes, you need people. Experience will teach you so many things and force you to make some factual conclusions. I was listening to a sermon and the preacher was explaining why the wealthy behave the way they do. They hardly get impressed or give you their attention.
The reason being the fact that they have met so many sets of people and their disappointments. Imagine the number of crooked individuals that have come their way, the failed promises in helping some people out and you can understand why you sound very skeptical in any opinions to them.
I have also been in such a knowledge sharing meeting when a well to do individual was addressing how he tackles the issue of giving loans or aids to individuals. As his solution he said, ‘I give people what I can afford to let go of rather than what they need’. His view here was the fact that the loanee may not meet up standard of payment and you might have just had a grudge in the process. So for him, a gift, maybe 10% or 20% of the entire demand and he walks away.

I have also had some experiences, doing business comes with meeting people. I have been employed and along the line I have also employed people. If I were to talk of the loss, you can understand why so many are running self employed businesses or sole proprietorship. When you bring in people that don't see your vision, a lot is already at risk.
We had to fold some part of the brand at that early phase to curtail any other forms of loss and yes, we were very inexperienced. We couldn't solve the problem of handling people and they in turn exploited both us and our vision.
Moving forward after some years we have had to also deal with humans; revamping this brand to remain in existence has needed us to step in and face some difficult times. A manager at some point was brought in to handle the laundry department while we were walking with a contract worker in the other office.
It never really worked out as expected and that was when there was a need again to bring business into one house. Bringing ALL sectors back into the same roof in a new place wasn't that bad an idea but as we always say, what are those walking with you thinking? One of our trusted contract worker and in short, the only contract worker by then misbehaved; exploited all the privileges he had and what can you do than part ways for peace and to think through about the future of your brand.

We had to step in again and exist this brand and overtime have been very skeptical on bringing in workers. At most it has been that distance hiring which has its in-between disadvantage; most times work gets slowed down when there are no ready-made workers to handle it instantly. I can say we couldn't really make the most of last year in the process but we have to be grateful for every growth that came it through affiliations.
To conclude, let me add here we are again, a new year and we just happened to find a new contract worker who seems to see the future of this brand. We are dealing with humans and personally I am not wishing for him to be a disappointment. I have to keep my mindset very positive. Nevertheless, in our first meeting of the year, it has been the big question; how do we solve the problem of dealing with workers?.
The first thing to look at is the fact that we are not desperate as a company and we can't rely our efforts on any individual in case he makes a decision to step back or perhaps we terminate the contract. It is a big question for us to answer; our recent years of dealing with people has lacked some form of boldness and I guess we will have to show it this time, he who wants to stay will. Without a company set realistic rules; one of the likeliest is exploitation. We can't run from working with people, we rather need to find the solution; a problem solved becomes an opportunity.
