Power up Day - 1st of January (and start this new year with a positive outlook)

in LeoFinance3 years ago (edited)

Well, it has just gone past midnight, so it is now technically the 1st of January 2021. I don't celebrate at the pub usually (not my cup of tea) and as we are now almost back into a full lockdown they are all shut anyway...

Instead I am sat at home with a bottle of coke and the last of the xmas chocs, and I'm gonna start the year of 2021 in a positive way. Y'all know what that means, once again its time to Power Up!

And if you don't know (or perhaps not paying attention) this is the initiative by @traciyork, @hivebuzz and @arcange regarding the PUD: Power Up Day. The aim is to encourage Hive Users to invest in hive to power up their accounts and help to grow this community

Why participate in the Hive PUD?
For the community as a whole, it's a great way to show support for our blockchain home by staking (aka powering up) Hive and adding to its value.
In addition to making your own vote more valuable and adding to your curation rewards (as well as earning interest on your stake), you will also strengthen your influence on the blockchain.
On top of this, some amazing members of the Hive community are offering prizes that include delegations, Hive giveaways, and other cool stuff to the Hive PUD participants.

As part of the Hivebuzz initiative there lots of 'Bee' badges to earn, and so far I have managed to grab every single one... gotta keep that continuous streak going now!

The first task on PUD day is to power up my 2nd account @earthsea...

after PUD

Nice and easy. I split the two accounts as they have different content, but but apart from a small 100HP delegation to @music-community most of it i delegated back to my main account.

And then I turn my attention to this account, and power 100 Hive (plus whatever else is lying around...

The total HP now stands at over 5226 HP. most of that is delegated out to @dlease ...

And a small amount of 250HP each goes to support both the Exhaust Community and the Isotonic exercise account.

Looking at the numbers I have realised I am surely almost reached Dolphin status. I know its some where near to 5000HP but due to complicated inflation reasons its a little bit more than that, AND its constantly changing

[don't ask me to explain why...]

Fortunately Nickyhavey recently wrote a useful article breaking down the numbers:

*so let's see... Dolphin is currently 5,234.63 HP (as of 26/12/20)

Are you kidding me? I am just 8 HP short of my target! So flipping close!

I have got some post rewards to look forward to in a couple of days so hopefully I will reach the target very soon, it just means I will limp weakly across the finish line instead

Almost forgot the sexy graph courtesy of https://hivestats.io/@dannewton

On that disappointing, damp squib of an ending I will finish the post and head to bed. Tomorrow will also be the first run of the new year (weather permitting) and another opportunity make sure that 2021 is a better, more productive year compared to 2020

Happy New Year everyone, and Goodnight!

EDIT - I reached DOLPHIN!!

Hopefully this shouldn't need saying as I am obviously VERY new to this 'investing in crypto' stuff. This is not financial advice, and I strongly encourage you to do your own research to decide what is best for you etc etc.

a bottle of coke and the last of the xmas chocs

Full chubby coke or that diet crap? Our xmas chocs are still wrapped, I can't face them anymore and we always get boxes of this stuff.

Diet coke (no calories etc) although I can't drink the normal coke now, it tastes disgusting and makes my teeth feel weird.

I know what you mean with the overload of chocolate, we didn't receive too much of it this year, and I allowed myself the random week between xmas and new year to pig out on whatever I wanted. I ate a full selection box earlier today, which was the last of it. I weighed myself last night and only put 0.8kg on compared to the last weight 2 weeks ago, and I class that as a win.

Back to the calorie-counting and sensible eating tomorrow...

Hows your healthy eating going?

Hows your healthy eating going?

Not so good.., though I'm still under 12 stones which is quite amazing considering the crap I have been eating over Xmas. I just had a slice of Thornton's Choc cake but could not do what you do (eat a full selection box).

...though I'm still under 12 stones which is quite amazing considering the crap I have been eating...

that sounds ok to me, don't beat yourself up over relaxing and enjoying the occasion.

but could not do what you do (eat a full selection box)

I assure you its not a regular thing haha!

It was more to do with tidying up than anything, just to get rid off it, I counted the calories of the whole box (740 calories) as part of my daily total, and I went over my deficit target by just 200 calories. No harm done :)

Congratulations on becoming a dolphin @dannewton 🎉🎉🎉

Thank you @arcange!

its taken 6 months of posting consistently, and a bit of cash I had lying around, but I've made it! Now to head towards 10,000 HP 😉

Go @dannewton, go!
