Until rewards are implemented the only "point" for liquidity providers to do it is for a token/tribe owner to improve the "overall market quality" of their token. As for a point on using it to buy and/or sell, once cross-tokens pools (:) get created (right now it still just have SWAP.HIVE: pools) one could trade from one token to another without having to sell token "A" (getting SWAP.HIVE) and then buying token "B" with it. Also, when that happens there will probably be market-markers trading those markets and making sure "market pools prices" are close to "normal market prices".
