Ethereum launched with a large premine, giving early insiders and the foundation a significant share of the supply from day one.
For some reason despite many options they got the adoption though.
Ethereum’s early chain reset after the DAO hack and its later transition from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake show that the network’s rules can be changed when enough influential parties agree.
