What's Wrong with Polygon?

Polygon is rekt again it seems - a bug in validator. Heimdall layer just stopped working.

Polygon network back up with a ‘temporary fix’ after eight-hour stoppage. But now all I can find is news articles from earlier this week and polygonscan itself shows blocks already showing up. And yet I also see a lot of recent tweets claiming it's not up yet. As in, the PoS chain is up, but that's due to a hotfix. The MATIC tendermint chain is still halted. This is important because it is responsible for checkpointing to mainnet and staking-related activities and is required for the bridge to work. Here's my concern - for all the Fantom FUD, how many times has it had to shut down like MATIC and Solana?

What Next?

What could be next, a dusting attack? All this talk reminds me of His Dark Materials. Although dust attacks are primarily targetted towards users rather than to bring down a network, I am wondering if a dust attack could happen in the future if the transaction cost becomes low enough in a layer 2 chain. Either way, users beware!
