Greetings and Salutations,
I am a new member of the Hive Community, although I must say I have followed this project with interest for a while. I first heard about this community from a friend, who talks about it all the time. So I feel like I know a little about it.
This DPOS model created by Dan Larimer has evolved and appears to have been the prototype decentralized finance tool, although few actually discus it in the way. From a academic point of view the smart contracts which underlie the functions like delegation, staking, three token versions of the same token, your stable coin and interest paid for depositing in savings, and from staking are very impressive. These are decentralized finance tools, which existed before the term decentralized finance was first used. (incredible)
This blockchain's original code may have been derived from others, but the current form and functionality appears far advanced from the original projects. The use of resource credits to deal with issues with fast free transactions is smart, the design of hardware dependent scaling is also a wise and interesting fork in the evolutionary tree of proof of stake blockchains. The delegated proof of stake system here or in your family tree may well have been the inspiration for other impressive POS or DPOS blockchains. Add to this the development of your side chain with tokenized sub-communities and the word impressive seems an appropriate adjective to describe the complexity and level of development of this community.
I am studying cryptocurrency and the blockchain, hoping to become Blockchain Certified, and then tackle certified decentralized finance specialist certification. I forgot I will also get the Bitcoin Specialist certification also. I have a full time non-blockchain job, but for three years this has been my passion.
I have a particular interest in decentralized finance, so when I joined I took that as my name. I have been studying decentralized finance or DeFi as it is called. It is a fascinating new ecosystem to explore, it's like the AI or Artificial Intelligence of finance. I think this is an entirely new frontier.
I know posting is big here, but I would prefer to interact, ask questions, and learn from the experiences of this community. So please don't mistake my lack of productivity as disinterest. While I have plenty to say, the goal here is to soak up knowledge.
I think thats enough for now. I haven't thought of some cool way to end my posts, so for now I will try this one of my friends use to say...
Peace out.

Welcome to the community :)
While you're obviously a great writer and we'd love to have you sharing long-form content, there's no pressure.
You do you.
Read, share, play and earn your way.
Easyyy.
While you're here, I'd love to hear more about your opinion on this.
Staking and earning from curation rewards was certainly my first step into DeFi (would you call it that?), and is something we don't push enough in my opinion.
As for your classic liquidity pool model, have you seen what the Hive-Engine team are doing on Hive's layer-2 with Diesel Pools?
The interface is garbage, but with Hive's free transaction model, there's certainly plenty of potential.
As someone coming from outside the Hive community bubble, what're your thoughts?

Hello @forexbrokr
Thank you for welcoming me to the community.
I appreciate it.
I agree that curation is a very attractive tool stimulating interaction and monetizing it, and indeed this monetization of attention, as specified in the smart contract, is not always given the credit it's due as a truly new way to reward interactions between content creators and content consumers.
This is a non-trivial way to reward people who don't produce content, but who can add value to the community in other ways. The most obvious is that they can be supporters of good content creators, as art patrons did in the middle ages. But they can also shape community content with both positive and negative reinforcement. But the negative reinforcement can be completely passive and non-confrontational. But still shape a communities norms.
Lastly by virtue of the monetary influence they yield, large stake holders are a very interesting dynamic in the community.
As an aside, this is a splendid illustration of the less aggressive and less confrontational way we can interact with others through computer code and tokenized social media. We don't need to insult people or engage in name calling, we can simply not reward them and not interact. Humans are social creatures and these non-confrontational punishments can be more effective than more aggressive ones. The psychology of humans is fascinating and universities offer courses on how to use social media to shape society, and many suspect it is already being used for this purpose.
Lastly, curation and the influence of curators on a community should not be taken lightly. I see that these areas can also be considered weak points or areas of vulnerability to over influence. But humans are imperfect, thus the systems they create are imperfect. All we can hope for is something Thomas Jefferson stated, that we evolve the rules of our society as our society evolves. Then its rules and norms will reflect the societies evolution. I think this also applies to social media communities. They will be imperfect in the beginning, but hopefully improve over time.
Decentralized Finance, where artificial intelligence meets finance can be an uplifting economic force for mankind, but being built by mankind it is imperfect, and can be exploited for individual gain and potentially mass suffering. Perhaps that was a bit over dramatic.
Ha! Ha! Here I have created another post.

So long!
Cool!

Hi @smallbites
I agree my comment was much to long.
I try not to be longwinded in general, but sometimes my passion gets the best of me.

Welcome to the world of Leofinance.
We are glad you decided to jump in after lurking around for a while.
Yes the chain has evolved from the one that it forked out of. We have a lot more coming also. The next 6 months are going to see a number of projects rolling out that really can change the framing of how people view Hive.
We look forward to your interaction.
Feel free to drop by @leomarkettalk and get involved with the group there.

Hello @taskmaster4450
I am unsure of the level of formalities here, so please forgive me if I am more formal, then the customary.
Thank you for welcoming me to the community, I appreciate it. I have heard that a lot of technological advances were being made, so I decided to jump in and learn more.
I see that this Leomarkettalk is important, two people have referred me to it already. So I definitely want to go there.
But I must admit that a speaking community interaction gives me pause, because I am new. I could feel a little overwhelmed. But I suppose if it gets uncomfortable I can always excuse myself, and leave quietly.
I hope it has a listen only option. I am impressed that it is daily, that suggests a high level of interaction, wich I wasn't aware of at all.
Thank you.

Hey Dude,
It’s not a talking place, even though it says that in the name. So chill, it’s just a post where people ask and answer questions.
It’s all good.

Welcome aboard! You are certainly entering this blockchain at a very good time. HIVE is in the process of rolling out some quite possibly game-changing dapps over the next few months and this place could explode into the mainstream at any point. There are literally dozens of communities to tap into for knowledge (and potential financial gains) across a broad spectrum of topics ranging from technology and crypto to Play2Earn gaming to fitness, art, natural medicine, food, and many more.
Join us daily on #LeoMarketTalk and you'll get a taste of a few of them. You'll also get some name recognition by interacting with the regulars, which can help boost your earnings, especially in the early stages.
I look forward to seeing you around...

Hello dagger212
Thank you for welcoming me to the community, and thank you for the link where I can ask questions of the other members. That sounds like a good resource.
Which communities would you suggest I look at first? I am primarily interested in DeFi.
Do you mind explaining what LeoMarkettalk is?
I would be reluctant to join a public speaking forum at this time. But would love to listen and interact via chat if that is possible.
Thank you.

Hello, @defigeek! This is @anggreklestari from the @OCD team. We saw that you already posted your first post here in Hive Blockchain! Congratulations and welcome!
Well, you can explore the communities that are suitable for your content. You can read some of the communities in this post: OCD Communities Incubation Program
For tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: newbie guide.
The important thing is Hive is a bit different from other social media platforms since you are monetizing your blog. You can't include content that you don't own without sources. For more information, check this post: Why and How People Abuse and Plagiarise.
If you have questions or concerns, you can hop into OCD's Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.
Have a great day!
Hi @anggreklestari or @lovesniper
I appreciate your informative and helpful comment.
It contains some very helpful links, and as a academic references and quotes are essential tools, which is one reason I love this platform; MarkDown allows perfect referencing capabilities and links to sources. I will also check out your discord. I assume that link contains a link and invite?
Thank you.

Hey Dude,
Good Morning and welcome to Hive.
I always wanted to welcome someone new to Hive, and I just happened to see your post, so cool. But you don’t have any Hive, so pretty soon you won’t be able to comment, so I will delegate you 5 Hive. Buy some Hive dude and power it up. I will let you borrow mine for a week.

Thank you @smallbites
I apologize for the delay in thanking you for the HIve or shall I say delegating me some HivePower.
I ran out of resource credits, so I could post, and so I got behind in responding. BUt thanks to you and other generous members here I can post again. Powering up Hive will be my priority.
As for buying Hive you are absolutely correct, I need to do that as soon as possible.
Thanks again,
@defigeek
Welcome to the community. I look forward to reading your posts. I suggest you buy and power up some Hive, as you will run out of Resource Credits soon. I will delegate you 5 HP today for a week to help you out.

Hi @tokenizedsociety
Thank you for welcoming me to the community.
I apologize for the delay in responding, I ran out of "Resource Credits", so I couldn't post.
I had intended to buy Hive, but my funds got stuck on the bridge and I am working with the Bridge Help Desk to get my funds back. The wait has been over a week, which is discouraging a bit, but to my delight some community members were very generous and loaned/delegated my some HivePower, so I am able to post and comment once more.
It's certainly been a learning experience getting money into this ecosystem.
But as in all things, those worth while are often difficult at first!
:)
@defigeek
Good luck and welcome to Leo Finance.
