Our central government of India is going to amend the power law. But the amendment of this law has created a controversy in various places.
The state government is creating controversy over the central government's draft proposal to amend the law. The state government has filed a complaint alleging that the law is illegal.
Until a forum of regulators comprising the commissions that regulate electricity has not agreed to introduce the new electricity law.
It is alleged by the state that the protection of the interests of the consumers is under the jurisdiction of the commission.
As a result, they want to imply that the central government is trying to take over the power sector by reducing the rights of the states by bringing in these rules.
In view of this, the Union Power Minister said that the right of consumers to get uninterrupted and high quality electricity has been protected through this new rule.
If this rule is breached, the distribution company will be punished. The Union Power Minister further said that the decision on the new rule has been taken after talking to all the concerned persons in the state but it has not been implemented yet, adding that it will be implemented by issuing a notification.
After that, the power minister of the state said that so far nothing is known about this issue and the notification has not been issued yet.
He further said that if the Center wants to dismantle all the structures or seize power then we will all oppose it on behalf of the state.
Besides, the state government has earlier protested against many rules made by the Center. The state's electricity expert said there was little to talk about in terms of the rules, but there were some procedural flaws.
It is written in this law that the responsibility of the customers is basically the commission. And the central government has complained that it wants to get that power.
The state power expert demanded that if such a situation arises, the rules should be changed first.
The rules made by the central government state that customers will get electricity connection within one month of applying. This rule is a matter of concern as to how the interests of all customers will be protected in the days to come.
