#historyonleo #onthisday On February 26th 1993 group of Islamic militants in New York City attempt to bring down World Trade Center towers by detonating a van bomb in the parking garage. The bomb kills 6 and injures large number of people, but the damage to the buildings is relatively minor. Ramzy Yousef, organiser of the plot, is arrested in Pakistan in 1995 and extradited to USA where he would be sentenced to life. Experiences with 1993 bombing were used by al-Qaeda for planning successful attack in 2001.
