In Croatia, small island of Susak is infamous for prevalence of learning disability, schizofrenia and all kinds of hereditary diseases which modern genetic studies attributed to island's isolation and inhabitants being forced to intermarry.
Much better known historic example is Habsburg dynasty, which had habit of marrying within family for political reasons.
