During the festive season, I constantly struggle to manage my finances very well. The pressure to manage expenses and cater to the demands of family and friends can be overwhelming. Financial strain is particularly challenging as I try to balance buying new clothes and taking them out while managing my finances. It's a difficult time, and I often feel unsure of how to handle it all. Some people find it easy to manage their finances, while others struggle, even with the ability to do so during the festive season, many complain about how to spend their money, despite being able to manage it throughout the year. This is a reality we all face, and it's why most people prepare themselves for the festive period, knowing that some bills are inevitable and must be paid.
When you see a lot of people spending during this period you will think they have a lot of money which is not like that because most people spend their savings during times. The festive period is just like every other month and is not that people have increased salaries or most jobs give extra payment during this time. Most men spend because they don’t want their families to feel left out by not spending and that is why most of these families struggle to survive in January and in places like Africa where things are taken to the extreme people go as far as borrowing just to feel among.
Money and emotions during this time
For most men what we live for is our families and they are the ones that make us feel most loved and spending to make them happy during this time is always personal. Most families believe that this is the time for them to spend time with their families and also make them feel loved and that is why this month always feels different most of the months don't come with this kind of excitement because they all feel the same and this one feels differently. Most people spend to remind their family of the love they have for them and also not to be left out in celebration.
Let cheat once in a while
If you have been following a strict diet plan you will know that their is always a cheating days where you will eat what you want because you can’t always be right and same things goes to finance because you follow very strict financial management you will know that it doesn’t give room for any emotional spending but sometimes we also cheat by spending more the festive period which I believe is not that bad it is needed sometimes so that we won’t feel deprived.
I believe borrowing money to celebrate or over spending during this tme will kill our finance and not the right way to cheat but doing a little more for our families without disturbing our financial plans during the festive period because I believe they deserve the best. Festive period is not a do or die affairs it will always come and go.

I agree with you, Christmas is not a season we will all dodge no matter how you don't want to spend, except one is a Muslim or you don't have any family at all...you are solo, if not the spending is a must. The most important thing is that we should know how to spend wisely so that January will us meet us broke. Cut your coat according to your size and spend moderately. No go dey do pass your self!
And yes, it is very okay to cheat once in a while but borrow money to spend Christmas? 😲 I mean who does that?
The holidays definitely make things harder to not open up your wallet. At least, I am not really into doing presents or anything nor do I have plans for that. So I think I should be able to keep expenses down this year.
