we don't want to stay irrelevant, so we look for ways to build attention for ourselves, one way or another.
I believe this action makes such individuals to look for other means to survive regardless of how the situation might be but are after the financial aspect.
Attention comes in many forms and in the workplace, it is on the skills we have (as well as other things). Why wouldn't it be the same socially?
