I have been pretty busy lately, and frankly, not in the best mood to write that much.
But hey, that milestone deserves it.
I'm now an Orca on the Hive Blockchain after powering up big sums of HIVE lately.
We'll atm I'm sitting at ~70K HIVE POWER between my two main accounts @empoderat & @thexbttrader. Technically I'm an orca... and a half!
I'm not realizing this fact yet, but this milestone (much less, in fact), was something unreachable in my mind in the not so distant past. Today I would like to talk a bit about me and how I reached this (IMHO) impressive milestone.

A tale of self-improvement
Many maybe think that I started out with huge amounts of spare money to invest.
Far from reality.
To put things in perspective for those who still didn't hear about me.
I meet the steem Hive blockchain in late 2017. And I was very happy to be able to amass ~1000 tokens around the previous bull run peak.
Used to dream about ~50$/STEEM. Completely delusional, I know, but that's how you come back to reality. With big hits.
Lost everything in 2018. Entered into a self depression phase.
Didn't have a job or much income at that time, but I saw something in 'crypto', don't ask me the reason because I still don't know, but I became very obsessed with Bitcoin and fell to the depths of the rabbit hole.
I don't believe in gods, but I thank 'god' for the path chosen.
Maybe for others, the 'Orca Status' doesn't mean shit, but where I live, it's a VERY big amount of money. ~12.500€ could easily be a FULL YEAR INCOME for a big chunk of people in my country.
This is how I managed those previous years to reach the position where I'm sitting at the moment. If you ask me, I made some sacrifices and managed some pain ('financial & emotionally' speaking) from time to time.
-I failed a lot of times and woke up over again & again to fight another day. I've lost DOZENS of bitcoins since my early days in 2016. Fortunately, I learned a lot, before most of the others. Never got into debt. That devil thing freaks me out.
-I got dumped by ex after 5 years. Different priorities. I'm more into working hard, she's going for the partying route. That's OK though. Meet new people last couple of years, fewer people but more trusted. In that sense, less is more. Feel grateful for that.
-Worked my ass off for 2 long years in shitty-jobs to keep accumulating when nobody believed at all in any of whatever I did.
Put apart ~50% of my salary each month, EVERY month, to keep investing in cryptocurrencies.
-Returned to parents home. To be able to put apart that sum of money every month to invest, I needed to cut my expenses to the bare MINIMUM. Don't think that I'm a hermit. I still got time to enjoy life & party from time to time (not while COVID though!).
I should add that I 'just' enjoy being involved in the crypto world, Trading, researching or writing doesn't feel like a job for me and I'm doing it almost every day.
I spent a lot of time here and I would like to see this project (or still 'proof of concept'?) succeeding, we can't sleep on ourselves.
My Vision for the Future of HIVE
IMO getting rid of steemit has been a game-changing event, which may be at first felt like a couple of steps back, but something that will appreciate over the long term (BYE BYE programmatic selling!).
On the other hand, I also believe that we have a limited time to build something 'good enough' for the masses (1 bull cycle, max 2).
If we don't 'fix' our problems and 'make it' in terms of 'direction' in the next 2-3 years I believe that we will experience a bad time dealing with other organizations better focused & with better funding.
In the coming months I would like to see:
-Fix Onboarding & Mobile Apps ASAP
-HF24 to get rid of the last steem traces.
-Smart Media Tokens (pending since forever...)
-Revised Power-Down times. IMHO 13 weeks is A LOT.
-Revamp the DAO. (Burn steemit's stake maybe?). What about asking for some type of 'Proof-of-Progress'?
-'Improved economics'.
...
And I just realized that I'm maybe throwing away a lot of topics to the same post when I only wanted 'to celebrate' that I'm now a bigger animal.

Concerning "-Revised Power-Down times. IMHO 13 weeks is A LOT." I think this time stabilizes the Hive price which is a good thing. Perhaps the power-down time good be optionalized, with voluntarily chosen longer pd times yielding higher interest and vice versa.

I believe that 13 weeks is a lot of time in crypto terms. It could be revamped in a lot of ways. Your option seems interesting.
I wouldn't have any problem to lock my tokens for 3 months, but for the unlocking something like 1 month would be far more reasonable.
We should be discussing this after the next hard fork.

Nobody in 2016 expected BTC to surge as it did, we're still in the denial/disbelief phase of the previous cycle.
Actually I've been having an interesting conversation about where we are in adoption compared to the internet - if people adopt blockchain at the same pace as they got into the internet plus a bit faster as everything tends to speed up - we're pretty close to mass adoption.

Being completely honest, lately, I've screwed up with people which I shouldn't 'offline' and don't feel proud of that.
Usually, I avoid talking much about myself as I believe that anonymity is a great virtue. I also prefer results to speak about me, who I am doesn't matter. Only results and facts.

STOPCongrats on the huge milestone. Back in the steemit days orca was a very select group of people that we all looked up to as the early adopters. If hive can grow to the same extent then it will happen again. Those luck people that accumulated at 20c. They won't know about the hustle and risk to build a big account.
I'm aiming fir the same myself at some point in the future. Again something that i never though possible two years ago.
I think that as areal user like a lot of us you are looking at the actual problems of hive rather than the technical side that our witnesses focus on. I'm 100% with you ion these as major issues to be fixed if we want to grow in the next bull run.

You're at 35K, seriously not that far at all. Good luck achieving your goal.
I'm 100% sold on the fact that we need a robust core community of devs (and I think we already have that), now we need to move a part of these efforts & funding to marketing & token appreciation mechanisms.
IMHO, I would be more than happy to fund a proposal to help leaders like @nathanmars to keep spreading the word outside of HIVE.
If we stay in our echo chamber we have nothing to do.
We need to show twitter & the world why they need the Hive blockchain.
