For Hive holders this weekend has been interesting indeed.
With Hive price going up like crazy, and with another round of Steem power downs, there are some sweet dilemmas facing us. At least I am facing them.
My Steem power downs are every Friday evening, with 688 Steem coming my way on a regular basis.
Until now, I immediately swapped this amount to Hive. Don't ask me why yet I didn't do the swap last week. So, now I have some liquid Hive which is worth much more than it was ten days ago.
The dilemma is - what to do with Liquid Hive?
Should I sell it? Which is the action that looks most appealing right now.
Should I hold it?
Or even power it up? What I wanted to do in the first place yet omitted somehow.
Let's take a look at the prices to document them. After the actions will be carried through I will be able to come back and evaluate them.
Hive at @coingecko:
Steem at @Coingecko:
Roughly, Hive, in comparison to Steem, is now worth around 9 times more than it was two weeks ago.
In my opinion, It is time to:
- sell all liquid Hive to BTC,
- hold this BTC,
- when the tide turns, it will eventually, buy Hive back
- don't power down any staked Hive,
- sell Steem to BTC to and buy Hive later.
What do you think?
I've already did point 5, of course.
I sold it on Huobi to celebrate the listing of Hive on this exchange.
For the record
688.30400000 Steem => 0.01480319 BTC, currently worth 113.07 USD
OK, let's do the selling part of Hive now. On Huobi again.
First, record the process of Hive at exchanges.
Transfer out ...
Sold in an instant ...
And now ... Hive price will surely go up some more :)
What will your move, or no-move be?
Better and better
I sold some of my HIVE for $0.18 😢. But I was able to sell some for $0.99 and almost 15% profit from arbitrage trading on Binance.
I will hold the BTC for some time and buy HIVE back at around $0.25, rest will go to my "new laptop" fund and hopefully I will be able to buy Alienware Area 51m before summer.
Good luck :)
Saw this one coming from a mile away.. Glad to see the market cap of STEEM moving over to HIVE (plus far more) with everything that has gone on. Certainly a wild time for sure though. Kicking myself for selling HIVE at $0.40 and $0.60.
Don't kick yourself. It hurts.
You'll be able to sell it again at those levels, I guess ... :)
Good luck!
I swapped some of my Hive for HBD earlier this weekend (for just 0.42 😬). I plan to sell that later when the Hive price goes down (which I expect sooner rather than later).
My Steem power down will go to BTC tomorrow, but I also will leave it there for a while. Pretty happy I swapped the Steem of last week straightaway.
So you did roughly the same except you've used HBD instead of BTC? Good.
And good luck :)
Indeed, that seemed like an easier way for me. Good lucky to you too!
Sold hive for USDT.

Good luck :)
Doesn't look organic at all. I think HIVE is being pumped by some big whales, so decided to sell all my liquid HIVE and will be looking to buy back at maybe 40 cents.
The reason behind the rise is a mystery to me too. Yet, never matter. Let's ride this train as you've done :)
Good luck!
I sold yesterday. Unfortunately I did it at .41 instead of .90 today lol but I got btc for it. I just can't understand that this is a real determination of Hive's value.
Let's say that the 'old', lower one wasn't the right one :)
Good luck with your future transactions.
