Have you ever tried to discuss hive with someone, trying to make them understand the advantage of web3 over web2 and their response makes you wonder if they are from mercury which is very close to the sun😂😂.
We have a lot of people who have spent all their time on web2 platforms, some the word web3 is strange to them, convincing them to Join Hive has become a struggle entirely. Most times you have to keep repeating one line of sentences till they finally get it, some ask questions and you wonder if they were not even paying attention to all that you were saying the whole time.
The rate of scammers in Blockchain, and cryptocurrencies platform has made a lot of people become deaf ears to anything related to Blockchain. Because of how they might have been a victim of these scammers, they find it very difficult to believe that the hive blockchain is legit.
Hurdle hindering people from adopting web3
Web platforms like the hive blockchain which is one of the future leading platforms with a decentralized nature, improved data security, with a new era of tokenization and digital ownership. Despite all this people sti hesitate to fully embrace web3.
Complexity of Web 3
Aot of people find the web3 platform to be a very difficult place to navigate and understand what to do. I was once like that but I started writing what I knew and from there I improved. Nobody using web3 today was very good at the beginning, everyone started somewhere and had their stories to share. The only way we can see web3 as a simple place to engage is to educate them.
Little or no advertisement of Web3
I never knew or heard of hive before, not until my mentor told me about it. Most web3 platforms don't really do advertisements, you don't see it pop up on your phone or see it on other social media platforms. We should be more intentional about advertising what we stand for on our status, bio and blogs. Not only that, there are several ways to make advertisements. We can design hives on our office wall, wearing a hive T-shirt. All these are forms of advertisement.
Difficulty in understanding cryptocurrency
To a layman, or someone who has not even heard of crypto or even understands cryptocurrency will take a lot of time and patience. When I joined hive it was very difficult for me to understand the concept and how the system truly works. Even up till now I still do ask questions where necessary, there are still things I don't really understand. I am so happy to always have the opportunity to learn new things everyday. But not everyone has that patience to learn or even ready to go through stress but they don't know that web3 is worth the stress, the advantages and benefits are just too much to ignore.
Regulatory Uncertainty
We can see that cryptocurrencies are full of regular uncertainty, the likes of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency tokens and technology has deterred a lot of potential investors and adopters. Crypto history isn't very clear and straightforward and this has made many users worry about the future changes.
Conclusion
The #web3 world, to be specific hive blockchain, is one of the leading web3 that has the potential to reshape the world of the internet and enable users to have full control of their digital lives. However, it has been facing numerous challenges hindering the masses from adopting it, overcoming its complexity, providing quality education and giving a clearer history pattern are steps of making hive blockchain more accessible and attractive to the masses. I hope with effort from developers, educators and already members of the #hive community we will increase the user base of hive in the future.
