RE: Leo Talk 3/07/2021 -Come Join Our Chat

Look at the Change in average word count from 2/6 to yesterday. That shows a trend towards more substantial comments from all of us.

If we can continue this along with creating relevant backlinks (internal links) to pages on Leo and Hive, along with outbound links, we can give Google something to index.

After all, this is a post and hopefully, people searching for crypto-related information will find us and join us.

I agree that is it very encouraging.

How do you mean going about creating backlinks? What is the best way to do that?

Is it smart for us to post a lot of links in here? Does that help at all?

Relevant links, not a ton of them, such as when I linked out in the long comment from yesterday.

For instance, let's say we're talking about covid, and you link to a study, that's an outbound link. Then you reference a Leo post with even more information, that's an internal or backlink to them. Here's more info on how high-quality links (especially inbound) affect search engine ranking and domain authority.

There's controversy of course as many don't like linking out to other sites, thinking they are taking users away from their content. But you're actually building your blog up as a trusted source of information, which helps to increase your domain authority.

Asher created a post about SEO last year. (I just gave him an internal backlink). :)

Notice, I didn't just drop the link, but wrapped it in the keywords "post about SEO" so that if someone searches for that on Google, his post might show up.

Damn , I am impressed by "post about SEO" trick . These info really makes a lot of sense once we get to know about it.

If I want to read everything ( or atleast most of the things ) about SEO , where do you suggest I start?

Here's a good place to start for the latest info on SEO (see what I did there?). :)

For general blog tips and how to become a better blogger, Problogger is a great resource and what I used to improve my blog.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes I can see that.

But how about, in a threat like this one, where we just put up information for people to grasp onto? Like posting something interesting about COVID, like you said, and then a discussion ensues.

For example, I just threw up a youtube link to the SpaceX Starship explosion.

Does that help at all especially if a conversation ends up taking place about it?

You created a backlink for that YouTube creator, which helps him out, but can also help your blog if it causes you to become an authority on that subject.

Over time, he may even notice you linking to him and start checking your blog out and creating backlinks to you.

When I blog, I always keep Google, Yahoo and Bing in mind. Even if I don't get a lot of upvotes, I know I'm helping Leofinance and Hive to become authority sites in the process.

Yeah. I am just wondering is we turn this thread into more of a reddit type area where links are put up throughout the day. People then are able to comment on different things of interest, especially how it relates to crypto, finance, business, tech, and even motivation.

Reddit became a darling simply acting as a linking site. Like you said, if we do that to a smaller degree, we might find people coming over even if it doesnt help the ranking per se.

As long as it doesn't turn into link spam, we won't get slapped down by Google. That's my only concern. See in my edited long comment to you above, how I wrapped Asher's link in keywords. "Post about SEO."

@evernoticethat you have a valid point there...

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Every single post or comment made from LeoFinance has link embedded to the same comment/post . Is this bad ?

I am talking about "Posted Using LeoFinance" Tag.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

@taskmaster4450le yeah that is a good idea, but i think there should be a maximum number of links that can be posted on each thread in order to avoid link spamming....

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Exactly. I would link naturally, where it made sense in a conversation in order to share info or credit a source.

Too much of policing will make users angry . We should focus only on creating awareness rather than restricting anything.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We often post links ( external links ) over here so that users read it and then come here and comment .

I think it would be more beneficial if we search a post related to the same news/ article and post internal links .

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You do want to have some external links as well, in order to build an association with authority sites.

When I had my training blog, I wrote tech reviews and added external links along with internal links in order to associate my site in visitors minds with say, Adobe and Apple.

At Leofinance, if we naturally mention things like:

Elon musk today, fell out of the Forbes World's Billionaires List list, after blah, blah, blah...

Over time, site visitors will start bookmarking us and see Leofinance as an authority due to our affinity with high-quality financial websites.

I would like to see us add to our crypto coverage and fold in more personal finance, banking and savings, shopping tips, etc.
