When Opportunity Knocks...

in LeoFinance2 years ago
I've learned so much lately while looking at how people respond when opportunity comes knocking at their door. What stands out to me so much is the utility of being set up and ready to act when the chance presents itself. It's what separates those who find success in life, from those who always seem to just miss out. If only they'd been ready...

There have been so many examples throughout history of wise men who bided their time, while prepping for the opening that might someday come. One of the most interesting books I've read, is The Oxford Dictionary of Popes, by J.N.D. Kelly.

This exhaustive tome covers hundreds of the men (and reportedly one women) who occupied the seat of The Holy See. The machinations that went on for or against anyone with a chance of being elected Pontiff, meant they had to be prepared for just about anything. Reading about all of the cunning and conniving involved, makes this one book you can't put down. It was also heartwarming to discover those times when Fortune smiled on some of the many "good Popes" who had the chance to make a positive impact during their papacy.

It was good reading about how our best President: Abraham Lincoln, toiled away as a lawyer, while honing the good character he had that assisted him throughout his presidency. Just look at some of the most successful men and women we've seen down through the ages, and note that they acted when their time came.

This also relates to the world of crypto, and how others saw what I did concerning Bitcoin over ten years ago. Way back in 2009 "B.C." (before crypto), you'd have been thought a crazy person to think that cryptocurrency or the blockchain would be the wave of the future. Despite the naysayers, I just knew that this distributed ledger would end up changing everything. The only issue I had was the inability to jump in due to an empty wallet, and being "the responsible one" in the family.

This meant, I could only largely watch, as the those early in what later became Hive and LeoFinance, sacrificed in order to build their stakes. These wise individuals deserve every bit of the success they now enjoy. Included in that, are all of those who got in early with Splinterlands.

In late 2017, I was able to scrape together a couple hundred bucks to begin building, when I'd wished it was 2K or even 20K. My mind was always ready, but the seed money was lacking. Which is why I've taken to slowly building a strong investing foundation, to be ready when opportunity and a bulging crypto seed fund, next intersect.

A few days ago, someone talked about getting that "one big win" which would allow one the ability to meaningfully participate when that next big wave comes in. Until then, the lesson is to keep plugging away, building those dividends, while creating content and engaging on the blockchain.

Our Hive community is kind of crazy to think that Hive is going to become the home of web3 (tokenized) social communities.

Let's keep building Hive

It's amazing already just how far we've come in such a short time. I'm so glad I ignored the Luddites, and built my new home on Hive!

I believe hive time will come and we must keep building

Consistency is the key, when the becomes more civilized everybody is still coming back to hive

What's that old saying? "Build it, and they will come." It's happening, right. now.
