Even though blockchain technology is becoming widely acceptable, many reputable projects such as Hive have not yet been fully discovered. Since its establishment as a decentralized blogging and social media platform, Hive has fostered a vibrant global community. Nevertheless, among these users, most are not aware of some of its most impactful community-driven initiatives and practical dapps.

While there are well-known DApps used by many people daily on Hive, there are also lesser-known ones that provide unique functionalities and opportunities. Thus understanding these hidden gems is vital in order to appreciate what hive can do for the blockchain ecosystem.

This article will focus on one particular program initiated by hive to create awareness and bring new users aboard. Additionally we shall feature some useful decentralized applications built using hive which solve problems but see less usage than they deserve.

However before diving into specific dapps let me outline key features of Hive:

Major features of Hive

Decentralized Governance

Hive works on the basis of a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) mechanism, which means that stakeholders can elect representatives who take care of the system.

Fast and Free Transactions

To achieve high throughput levels required by DApps, Block.one has ensured that Hive supports three-second block times with no transaction fee charged.

Scalability

Block.one designed Hive to scale as far as possible considering its graphene-based architecture that enables processing of large numbers of transactions at once.

Hive Initiatives

Hive Outreach

Hive Outreach is a volunteer-driven initiative intended to promote awareness about the Hive blockchain platform through partnerships and events. Spearheaded by members from all over the globe who believe in this technology’s potential for positive change, it seeks to introduce new users and developers into the Hive community by showcasing what has been achieved so far at different conferences within the blockchain space. One such event was ETHDenver where they hosted a booth while another one took place during Devcon where they gave talks about Hive projects among other things like security features or smart contracts related issues.

Moreover, the Hive Outreach team reaches out to local meet-up organizers worldwide so that they can organize gatherings where people get together around topics related exclusively on Hive Blockchain and platform; hence making it more accessible globally than ever before. Realizing global impact requires local connections too; therefore, alongside these efforts are made towards linking up communities across borders thereby fostering an inclusive environment for growth not only locally but also internationally.

Lesser-Known DApps on Hive

1. dPoll

dPoll is a decentralized program for polling opinions where users can create polls and others can vote on them without spending money. This DApp rewards involvement using Hive tokens, and stores outcomes publicly within the Hive blockchain. In terms of community feedback and decision-making, dPoll is an invaluable tool.

2. HiveTasks

HiveTasks is a decentralized software similar to Trello in functionality. This dApp created by @fernandosoder allows users to manage tasks, create project schedules and work together on different projects anchored on the Hive blockchain. This ensures that all records are transparent and permanent as well as visible to everyone who might need them.

3. Hive Stats

Hive stats is a unique Dapp that I found interesting while reading about various Dapps developed around Hive blockchain. The idea behind this application was to help track and analyze user’s statistics on the platform.

Created by Streem flow which is part of the Inleo team, this tool allows one to follow up all their activities at one place. From voting power, pending rewards to total rewards earned everything is tracked based on a seven day period. In addition, it also keeps record of account growth on hive platform. All these statistics are based on a seven day tracking basis. I think it’s a great tool worth more attention.

Impact and Benefits Regarding These DApps

These DApps show how flexible Hive is and what its technology can be used for. Hive’s infrastructure supports a wide range of applications, from simple task management to complex data tracking which encourages creative use of blockchain technology. The main advantages of using these apps on Hive include; better security, transparency as well as reduction in reliance on centralized systems.

By nurturing such DApps Hive therefore opening up more space for growth, it also demonstrates itself being an essential building block within the global Blockchain ecosystem. With each additional layer that gets added onto the Hive blockchain by these decentralized applications there is potential to attract different kinds of users who may become developers themselves thereby strengthening the whole network.

Conclusion

There are many innovative and diverse DApps in the Hive ecosystem although they have not been fully explored. By looking into lesser known applications we can see that this platform has a lot of potential beyond just being used for content creation only but also other areas like finance or logistics among others too. As time goes by and with continuous improvements made on this site it will create room for more interesting developments within the decentralized application industry.

Well, nobody actually uses dPolls, there's precisely 8 polls within last month. As far as I know, Peakd offers a better polling tool nowadays.

HiveTasks is just adapted, the original app runs on Steem and was developed by @steemchiller. Trello is a Kanban list-making app, Steemworld/HiveTasks are a universal multi-purpose tools for account governance. I am not sure if all the funcionalities of HiveTasks actually work, since they were originally intended for Steem.
