and to add to that i believe that the enviroment these days is in general unsafe. At least in most EU countries we literally keep on hearing about shootings and killings each and every day.

I'm sure that's always been the case over the years. It's just more publicized now on news, online etc.
nah at least in Europe 15-20 years ago everything was completely difference and quite safe. If you check the criminality rates these last few years are skyrocketing :(
