FB is both wealthy and creepy. I don't even trust the apps under the FB umbrella such as WhatsApp and Instagram. I don't have anything against IG except for the fact that FB owns it. As for WhatsApp, I never got into it.
That's a situation where you can't avoid using it. Use it if you have to, but it doesn't mean you have to like it if you're not a fan of it. If you're a fan of it, just beware of the downsides associated with it (especially due to Facebook owning it).
Terrive is meant to be the Hive alternative to IG. It's still a working prototype, but the developers are responsive in fixing bugs and taking suggestions.
Between Terrive and D.Buzz, you may have a good combination to replace IG. A significant number of buzzes are photos, and they get engagement. I use D.Buzz to report bugs or sugestions to the developers of Terrive.
Lots of Splinterlands images and play-to-earn posts are on D.Buzz, too, and I upvote as many of those as I can just to show support for the players.
I know D.Buzz gets a bad rap for clogging people's feeds, but it can actually be useful in a number of ways.
What's important for me is using Hive to replace as much of Web 2.0 as I can. Initially I was frustrated with D.Buzz, but people there are getting to know me as I engage with them and make around 100 upvotes a day there. That account is used to promote my main account and other interesting content I find at LeoFinance.
The biggest complaint I have about D.Buzz is that earnings are in HIVE only. Although a BUZZ token exists for D.Buzz, none are circulating. This means there isn't a Layer 2 token used by D.Buzz.
If that's my biggest complaint, then D.Buzz is doing OK for me.

That's good for you.
Unfortunately WhatsApp is huge here in Brazil so I see myself forced to use it because even at work we use it as communication tool

I do have an IG account but I'm using it less and less. It's a nice concept but, as you said, the fact that it's owned by Facebook is a huge turn-off

Yea, I think you showed me Terrive before and it looks promising!
As for D.Buzz, I never used extensively it so I could be wrong here, but I believe Project Blank will be a better producy when it launches.
