The Wait is (Almost) Over: Buying My First Car

in LeoFinance3 days ago

Hello to Hive Fam,

I hope that life is treating you well wherever you are in this part of the world.

Buying a car is a dream for many people, and I am one of them, having had this dream for many years. For the last few years, I have been dreaming of owning a car, but I could not make it a reality because of the constant budget but this year seems the dream will become a reality. I could have done it before if opted to go with the car loan, but I'm a kind of person who is against liabilities, so I always thought that when my budget allows, I will buy the car and I will not go for the loan option. I have no liabilities on my shoulders, and it is because I never want to buy anything that I cannot afford. I'm going with the loan is like I'm buying something that does not give the real ownership, and that's the reason why I just stay away from this trap. My money management philosophy is simple: that own something when I'm really ready to own it, and for that, I need to have enough amount of money in my pocket.

Because of this, I have been saving some money from the last few years and also invested, which has given a good return. So finally I am ready to buy my first car in this year 2025, but if you talk about the dream, then it is before the COVID-19 lockdown. A new model has been launched by the Maruti Suzuki brand, and it is called Victories, which is a compact SUV. And I'm thinking of buying this car this year.

I have visited the showroom and got the quotation for a few models of this car, and this car looks good. I had thought to go for the hatchback first, but then I decided that I should go for a compact SUV, and obviously not a sedan, because sedans are now out of the league, and a lot of people prefer not to go for sedan cars.

The colour I want is on the waiting so I need to wait for a couple of weeks, and because I'm not going to avail the loan facility so once it is available, I can buy it without any further waiting. It's a straightaway shopping trip, which I will do, and for that, I have already done the booking for the car, so once it is available, the showroom will inform me, and then I'll pay a visit and buy the car, which is my first ever car that I will own. I also thought about going for pre owned cars but changed my mind because I am new and I don't understand that how this car mechanism works so I don't want to be in a situations when I keep on paying to the garage for the service and repair and this is why I decided that I will go for the new car only even if it takes time So that I can have a Peace of Mind for next few years.

It is not less than any big achievement in my life because I have waited for many years to own this, and still that day has not arrived, but the gap is not so big that it cannot be more in a few weeks. In any case, this year, 2025, is going to be the year for me when I will finally own a car, and I'm sure it is going to be an exciting achievement for me. Thank you!

Thanks brother

Nice and reliable car. I had Suzuki and so my parents do and one thing is certain that these cars are made to outlive most of the other brands. And their engines are ones of the best in terms of endurance. Congrats and wish you safe driving when the time comes!

Suzuki is a reliable brand and many of my friends have been using it for many years, so I have chosen this brand because of its reliability. Thank you

Respect for waiting years to buy without debt. In a world screaming ‘buy now, pay later,’ choosing to wait until you truly own it shows serious discipline.
But here’s the thing: you said you skipped pre-owned to avoid garage visits. Fair. But Victoria will drop 15-20% the first year. That ‘peace of mind’ premium might equal the repair budget of a solid used car.
Either way, it’s your call—and the freedom after all this waiting? Priceless. Just remember: real ownership is when the car works for you, not the other way around.

I don't like buying things on EMI, and I enjoy a debt-free life. I can wait to buy something rather than buying on, and this is why I had to wait for 5 years+ for car buying.
I understand the value depreciation part, but I will keep this car for a long time, so this will be justified.

That 5-year wait wasn't a delay - it was an investment in your character. A car bought with patience always holds its value better, both on the road and in the soul.

it depends on how many miles you drive a year , but i still prefer pre owned cars that way i don't lose to much money when drive away from the garage. make sure you insure it very well all risk ! and many safe miles to go

Pre-owned cars can help save money, but I have decided to buy a new one after careful consideration. Thank you!

Nice car! You went for a new one, I like buying both new and used, all depends on which makes better financial sense. Sometimes the deals for new cars are too hard to pass up, plus it saves you time doing repairs...

I decided to go for new because it's my first ever card, and I don't know anything about car mechanisms, so with new, I get a company warranty, and with pre-owned, if something goes wrong, I would have to visit a garage, which I don't want.

"own something when I'm really ready to own it" This is a brilliant thought!

Many many congratulations on buying your first car. It might be delivered after Diwali I guess? But great to know that you have booked your favourite cartoon in your favourite colour. 🎉
Someone once told me that good things take time to happen, but when they do happen, they are way better than you expected. 😊 Congratulations once again!

Buying a new car is like burning money. It looses its value so hard. I never owned a car myself, but I only would consider buying a used one.
I don't want to bitter your happiness it is just a thing to look at.
Congrats on achieving your dreams!

I'm so happy you made one of your dreams come true. Dreaming is wonderful in itself, and making one of those dreams come true is priceless, isn't it? I hope you make many more dreams come true this year.
