Asian hornet a problem for my beehives.

The Asian hornet is a type of wasp that arrived in Europe a few years ago, including the area where I live, causing many problems. It's an invasive species to which European honeybees are not adapted, and it causes significant damage to hives. The Asian hornet is larger than the European honeybee. It positions itself at the entrance of hives and hunts the bees, then cuts off their heads and legs, keeping only the bodies to take back to its nest.

Until this year, I hadn't had any problems in my garden. I have a couple of hives for personal use, and they've always done very well since I have a large number of flowers. The ecosystem is balanced, but this year the Asian hornets appeared, and maintaining the balance in the garden is proving to be a challenge. The hives have reduced their production, but that's not what worries me; it's that the hives won't adapt to the continuous attacks and that it will be impossible to maintain them.

This shows us how fragile ecosystems are to the rapid incursions of new actors and the serious problems that can be caused to native species.
