From champion to championship, that's the story of licester city

Highlights what a fairy tail it was when they won the #epl.

Wild.

Honestly, I really don't expect them to go down so early, but that's football

So sad we won't see these clubs in the premier league next season

Looking forward to seeing Luton Town though! :D

What does relegated mean? Demoted?

And who replaced them?

Yeah, so the bottom 3 teams from the #epl move down to the 2nd division called the #championship.

Do the players have multi-year deals? I would imagine a demotion in league means less money for teams? Dont players want to be in top tier?

Yep, so clubs lose their #epl tv money.

The best players have clauses in their contracts that allow them to leave if relegated.

But club staff are fired and the lesser players go down and earn less.

It's absolutely brutal.

Sounds like a system built on the incentive to win.

Is there a lot of cheating? PED? Bribery? Anything like that?

Yep, all that matters is winning.

None of that socialist bullshit that rewards losing via the draft in US sports.

Bribery and match fixing stuff happens more in the lower leagues.

Where there's less scrutiny.

So in England, there are 3 fully professional leagues under the #epl, then semi pro levels, then amateur.

Are all EPL teams in England?

There seems to be a lot of crosspollination in terms of players and even who teams play.

1st and 2nd in the Championship go up automatically.

3rd to 6th go into a knockout playoff.

Which Luton Town won!

The brutal reality of an open football pyramid.

Leeds did not improve this season and knowing how they escape last season, they should have improved. I feel sad for Leicester and I hope they come back to the EPL next season.
