I've minted my first NFT ever!

I've been intrigued by Non Fungible Tokens (NFT's) for a while. I really think this is going to become a huge thing and that 2021 is the year where it will take off...

NFT or Non-fungible token are used as a proof of digital ownership and for verifiable digital scarcity. NFT’s have the possibility to be exchanged between different platforms.
NFTs are often used for crypto art to prove authenticity and ownership, but also in gaming or for collectibles.

Creating your own NFT's

Why would you create your own NFT's? Well first of all just because you can!
No, seriously... I've been looking into selling my photographs as NFT's. Applications like Lensy and NFTShowroom offer artist the possibility to sell their art.
This way you can earn some crypto by selling a limited number of copies of your artwork to your fans.
@katerinaramm you might find this interesting too ;)

I've looked into these tools, but wasn't quite convinced yet, but then I saw the NFT Creator in AtomicHub on the Wax Blockchain (https://wax.atomichub.io/).

Creating NFT's is quite simple. The creator page has a manual and even an instruction video:

I managed to get my first NFT's on the marketplace in 15 minutes!
You first need to make a collection and a schema. In the schema you can add attributes for your NFT like Name, Image or Info. You can also create a template for this.
The only downside is that your image can only be 2 megabytes.
Then you can mint your assets. You can set a maximum number of NFT's. The less NFT's you create the higher the scarcity.

When you minted your NFT's you can pick your price and put them on the marketplace.
You can always change your price afterwards. As you can see there is a fee. You set the collection fee yourself and if I understood correctly you will receive this yourself as the collection owner.
You withdraw the marketplace and Tokenomics fee.

And here they are; My very first self minted NFT's:

I'm selling my "Sunset at the canal" for 50 Wax.
There are only 10 of them so you have to be quick because these could be worth a fortune soon 😉

You can buy them here:

(uncheck "Only Verified Assets")

Just curious . . . why did you create your NFTs on wax rather than on the one that's on Hive?

I didn't see a lot of activity on the Lensy website. Their last sell of was over a month ago.
Plus you pay some Hive generate your NFT's.

Creating them on Wax was very easy and free. You only pay some commission when you sell something.
And NFT's are quite hot on Wax in the past few weeks.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Is it free to create them and add to the marketplace? I'm definitely interested in doing more, but I am on a tight budget.

Yes it is. You need some memory resources, but generating is free. For selling you pay a small fee.

so the NFT can be just an image and not just some game item? I don't really understand tough. But as most of the popular NFT are in the ETH blockchain, that will burn some gas

It can be an image and some attributes like text fields.
