Another week, another “Share Your Battle” Competition! This time around once again with one of the most expensive Splinters: Dragons! In this article I will highlight Djinn Chwala, a card that I basically grew with. I got this card since day one on Splinterlands and it is definitely one of my most used cards in general. With that being said, we will talk about its advantages and when best to play it. Furthermore, we will take a look at the special cards that we used to fulfill our strategy and last but not least, we will take a look at the battle that we were able to win with this team!

Djinn Chwala

First things first, djinn Chwala is the perfect tank in this game. Why? Well, let’s take a look at its statistics first. 5 armor, 9 health, 2 melee attack and 2 speed for 8 mana are a more than fair evaluation. Once you level this card up you will even get more attack, more speed, more armor and more health! If you max this card out, it will have 4 attack, 3 speed, 6 armor and 10 health, and does this not sound amazing?

It comes even better! From the base level on, this card has the Thorns Ability which means that everybody who hits this card will inevitably get two damage dealt back. This goes only for melee attackers and also only if they have no Reflect Shield on them but nevertheless, the Thorns Ability is a great way to deal some extra damage. Why is this so cool with this card? The Djinn has a total of 14 hit points and if you have support cards that can repair or heal this card they will become more which also means that we can deal more damage with Thorns. With the Enrage Ability on level 4 you can even get higher attacking stats which makes this card even more undesirable for opponents to play against!

With that out of the way, I would always try to play this card in games where only Melee cards are allowed. This increases the chance of getting the Thorns Ability to activate. On top of that, every game where magic cards are disabled or nerfed is a great opportunity to play this card in the first row. A Sneak Battle allows us to put this card also into the last position since it can then utilize its ability to damage some sneak attackers who usually do not have the most health.

On the other hand, I would avoid using this card in battles that are draining hit points from this card. Circumstances like Earthquake or Poison are definitely not suitable for this card. On top of that I would avoid playing this card in battles where no armor is allowed because it neglects the whole points of this amazing number of hit points that this card brings along.

Twilight Basilisk

As you could already think, we will have the battle where only Melee monsters are allowed. This brings the question, what strategy we should use. For starters, a second deposition reach card would be nice to have here. This brings me to the second dragon which is very often overlooked in my opinion: Twilight Basilisk! Probably not a dragon per definition but definitely in the Dragon Splinter, this card can be a great addition to your team. Especially from level 2 on it has increased attack which is always not bad for a melee card. For just 4 mana this card brings a good amount of speed and has even 1 armor to defend itself. In total a very solid card to play in the rulesets that we are about to face!

Venari Power

Last but not least I turned my faith into the hands of the Venaris! These people are just crazy and I really like to play these cards. In the case of the Earth Splinter we have two of them and both of them are Melee attackers. For the first one I chose the strategy of thorns once again. We put the Venari Knifer in the back of the field in order to deal with Sneak attackers. As you will see it has done its job pretty well, dealing a total of 6 additional damage and therefore almost destroying his Sneak force. Usually this card would be a great first place card, especially with a speed of 4 but in this particular case I chose otherwise.

The second card which can attack from any position due to its Opportunity Ability is the Venari scout. For only 3 mana we are getting a Melee attacker which can be used anywhere on the filed which is a great advantage in these ruleset. This card will be a big key player in defeating our upcoming opponent so pay close attention to this card. With only One Melee attack it is definitely not the biggest striker but like I just said, sometimes it must not be the amount of damage but where the damage is dealt!

Example Battle

With our team explained, let’s jump straight into the battle. We are facing a very difficult opponent. I am always struggling against teams with the Llama summoner. Especially because of the last stand Ability. It is done pretty great by the guys to put the Xenith Monk with the healing ability in last place since its stats will be increased dramatically and it can restore 4 health each turn once it’s the only one on the field. But we were prepared this time. Especially due to our double Thorns Strategy we were able to deal the extra bit of damage each turn to defeat our opponent fairly comfortable in the end!
