Another week, another Battle Mage Secret Challenge. This time around we are trying to find a perfect way to win a game in the Even Stevens Ruleset. I must admit, that this one was a little bit hard to win this time due to the fact that this Ruleset did not come up very often for me. On the one hand a little bit annoying but on the other hand it just shows how much variations there are in Splinterlands which is a good thing in my opinion. Well, nevertheless, in this post, we will go through the Even Stevens Ruleset, look at the strategy and cards that we are going to use for the upcoming battle and last but not least we are going to look at the battle itself. Without further a do, let’s jump straight into the Ruleset!
Even Stevens!
Alright, first things first, let’s talk very briefly about the Even Stevens Ruleset. In my opinion, there is not much to it. It is one of the Rulesets that just limit your options of choosing your monsters since it only allows you to play units with an even mana cost. While this might be very limiting for players that are starting off, more experienced players would have a much bigger collection and therefore would not struggle too much with this Ruleset. Other than that it has no real specialty to it which is very quickly told.
Strategy & Cards
For the strategy it allows us to take this battle like every normal battle, with the exception of using only even mana cost units. Because this battle was only limited to the Fire Element, we were pretty heavily limited with our choices here. Usually, I prefer to play the water Splinter in this Ruleset because it has some pretty neat even cards to play, but it is what it is now and we have to deal with this limitation now.
The first combination that came to my mind is one that I recently introduced: Iidri Fyre with Ferexian Hero. In this specific case, we will use Iidri in first position and the Hero in the second dposition. With her Taunt Abiltiy, we can steer our opponent’s attacks a little bit and with the Hero we can ensure that we are able to land some blows ourselves. On top of that, we are able to attack with our Hero from the second position due to his Reach Ability.
So far so good, but we definitely need some more damage done in order to win a battle. This is where Tinderlock and Ifrit Rising come into play. While the latter will deal 6 mana damage every second turn, Tinderlock will deal 3 damage every turn. What’s so cool about Tinderlock is that he has the Last Man Standing ability as well as the Close range Ability. This makes him such a great card because he will attack from last place until he is the last unit on the field. Once this happens, he will get a stat boost and will be a literal beast which is hard to beat. For Ifrit, I do not have a special reason other than that he was one of the cards with the biggest damage to deal. On top of that he comes with 7 health and 3 speed which does not make him a bad choice for this specific Ruleset.
Example Battle
We filled out our team with a few other cards and we were on the way. Because this battle had a lot of restrictions, I did not expect my opponent to come up with the greatest of teams. In the end he did have a very solid team for this specific battle but our team was just doing more damage. While his team would only be able to deal around 10 damage per turn, our team was dealing in average about 15 damage per turn. Due to this fact and due to our armor advantage as well, we were able to win this battle pretty comfortably.
